🌺 Mahalo, Baldwin High School!

The Maui County Elections Division had the pleasure of visiting Baldwin High School on September 21st to meet with seniors and talk about voting, the election process, and getting registered to vote.

A special mahalo to Mr. Yamaguchi for helping coordinate this entire event, and to Mr. Clarke for welcoming us into his classroom and making our team feel right at home. We truly appreciate the opportunity to connect with Baldwin’s students and help prepare our future voters.

We look forward to making this an annual tradition! 🗳️

Would you like the Elections Division to visit your school? We’d love to connect with local schools and help students learn more about voting and participating in our community. Send us a DM to learn more!

🌺 Hawaiian History Month | Kamehameha the Great

King Kamehameha I, known as Kamehameha the Great, played a defining role in the history of Hawaiʻi.

During a time when the Hawaiian Islands were governed by different aliʻi, Kamehameha worked toward the unification of the islands through diplomacy, strategic alliances and warfare. By 1810, Kauaʻi and Niʻihau had joined the Hawaiian Kingdom, bringing the major Hawaiian Islands under one rule.

The unified kingdom established under Kamehameha became an important part of Hawaiʻi’s history and shaped the generations that followed.

Today, Kamehameha’s name and legacy remain part of everyday life across our islands, from Kamehameha Day celebrations to schools, streets and landmarks throughout Hawaiʻi.

🌺 During Hawaiian History Month, we honor the people and events that shaped the history of these islands and continue to be part of Hawaiʻi today.

E hoʻomau i ka ʻike. E mālama i ka moʻolelo.
Continue the knowledge. Preserve the history.
