Last Friday we celebrated with one of our own! John Albin, after 29 years of service with the City of Wahoo, has retired. John started as our Utility Meter Reader, and eventually transferred to our Power Plant where he served as an Operator. Thank you John, for all your years of commitment to our work and to the citizens of this community. Thanks to your family as well.

If you see John out and about, please join us in congratulations on his retirement, and a big thanks for all his year of service!

It has come to our attention that the latest scam / phishing scheme is related to city zoning and building permits. The details are below in the attached PSA. We are sharing this because we want you to be extra vigilant in this area with email or phone calls. Nearly all of our permitting is handled in person AND we do not accept credit cards for permits. We have not had any reports of this in Wahoo, but want to share the information so our folks are aware of this!

WAHOO RESIDENTS: Tomorrow, Thursday, Feb 12, the far west lane (southbound lane) of North Chestnut Street between 15th and 16th Streets (near the National Guard Armory) will be closed to traffic between 11:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Traffic control will be in place so traffic will still be allowed to pass through, but if possible, please us an alternate route during this time.
