Good morning. Although anticipated snowfall amounts may not be substantial, we strongly recommend exercising caution and limiting travel unless absolutely necessary. 690 road and 700 road are currently snow-packed and slippery. Snow flurries are expected to continue throughout the day, with an additional snow system forecasted to arrive tonight and persist into tomorrow.

In light of the impending winter storm, it is crucial to make preparations immediately. Temperatures will plummet to near or sub-zero levels for most of the duration between Friday and at least Tuesday. To prevent pipes from freezing, ensure a small flow of water is maintained from your faucets. We anticipate snowfall totals ranging from 8 to 15 inches, which will render travel extremely hazardous. Therefore, it is advisable to remain indoors unless absolutely necessary. Regrettably, this will likely result in prolonged response times for emergency services. It is essential to stock up on vital supplies and medications, as travel disruptions are expected to persist into mid-next week at the very least. Please limit calls for emergency services to genuine emergencies only. Additionally, exercise caution by keeping all heat sources at a safe distance from combustible materials.

Today marks a major breakthrough for Whitehorn Cove Fire Dept. as Chief Lancaster and Assistant Chief Edwards return from Snyder, Nebraska, with the department's brand-new pumper tanker, built by Danko Emergency Equipment Co. This state-of-the-art vehicle is poised to revolutionize our department's capabilities, and those of surrounding departments, by adding 3000 gallons of water to our fleet, bringing us one step closer to achieving our goal of lowering our ISO rating. We're eager to equip the truck with the necessary hose, tools, and equipment and deploy it into service, empowering our team to respond more effectively and make a greater impact in our community.

⚠️ Tornado Risk After 1 PM! ⚠️

We’re watching for strong to intense tornadoes this afternoon, especially from any supercells that manage to stay by themselves.

The hope here? If too many storms develop, it could actually limit the severity – but that’s a big “if.”

I would like to take a minute to recognize one of our firefighters/assistant Chief Jarrad Edwards . He was chosen last night by the Cherokee nation for firefighter of the year! Jarrad has been a huge part in getting our dept operations back in line. Also big part in making sure our firefighters have what they need to safely do their Job. He has deployed with Emergency Management several times through the last year for grass fires and water rescues. The Whitehorn community is very lucky to have him in their corner. Thank you Jarrad from all of us at Whitehorn Fire Dept congratulations you earned it!

In remembrance of a true hero. Today, we honor the life and service of Brandy Smith from the Tullahassee Fire Department. Her dedication and spirit will always be remembered. Our thoughts are with her family and fellow firefighters during this time. 💔🔥
