Who can join: Students who are at least 14 years old, have completed the 8th grade, and are currently in high school.

How to sign up: Attend the meeting with a parent. Students can register to become a cadet right on the spot.

Today, the community gathered at the 9/11 Memorial behind Fire Station 1 for a moving tribute marking the 25th Anniversary of 9/11. Safety Director Dan Chafin opened the event with a warm welcome, followed by poignant remarks from Fire Chief Bob Lindner, Police Chief Dave Dorland, and Mayor Robin Laubaugh. The ceremony's spiritual moments were provided by an invocation from Pastor Adam Barton of Mosaic Church and a concluding benediction from Pastor Adam Marquette of Trinity UCC. A dignified presentation of colors by the American Legion and VFW set a respectful tone, which was beautifully complemented by traditional bagpipe music from Bill Sanderson and a stirring rendition of Taps by Steven Pfeiffer. Adding to the emotional depth of the tribute, the Wadsworth High School Choir delivered a powerful musical performance to honor the historic day. We shall never forget.

On this solemn anniversary of September 11, 2001, we pause to honor the precious lives lost and remember the profound sacrifices of those who did not return home. We reflect on the extraordinary courage of the first responders, service members, and ordinary citizens who rushed toward danger without a second thought. Their selfless bravery during our darkest hour serves as an enduring reminder of the unbreakable strength, resilience, and unity that define our nation.

The community is invited to a 9/11 Memorial Ceremony today, Friday, September 11 at 10:00 a.m. This event will be held at the 9/11 Memorial located behind Fire Station 1, 343 College Street. The 30-minute program will include City officials, Police and Fire, the Wadsworth High School Choir along with the Legion and VFW Honor Guard.

Parking is available at Blue Tip Park.

Join us for the 9/11 Memorial Ceremony on Friday, September 11 at 10:00 AM.

The ceremony will take place at the 9/11 Memorial behind Fire Station 1 at 343 College Street. Did you know the station was given that address to honor the 343 firefighters who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks?

Mayor Robin Laubaugh, Fire Chief Lindner, and Police Chief Dorland will be joined by the American Legion, VFW honor guard, and Wadsworth High School Choir as we recognize the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001. The program will include the presentation of colors, remarks, and a ceremonial wreath laying.

Parking will be available at Blue Tip Park.

Do you have an interest in firefighting? The first meeting for the Wadsworth Fire Department Cadet Program will be held on Monday, September 14, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. at Fire Station 1 (343 College Street).

This first meeting will be an informational meeting for parents to attend with the student. If the student is interested in becoming a Cadet they can sign up at this meeting.

Cadets participate in events with the Wadsworth Fire Department. They also receive hands on training.

Requirements of the program are being in high school and at least 14 years old with the completion of 8th grade.
