Message from the Mayor:
To the Citizens of the BIG City of Wadley
In the last few weeks, many of you may have seen or heard about comments and posts that I made on social media that may have been deemed as rude, disrespectful, and unbecoming of the office I have been entrusted to hold. I take full responsibility for my words and actions, and I offer my sincere apology to every individual I offended, disappointed, or hurt.
As Mayor and as a pastor, I understand that leadership requires humility, integrity, and self-control. Unfortunately, in those moments, I failed to uphold those standards, and for that I am truly sorry.
For the past several years, I have dedicated myself wholeheartedly to serving this community and my congregation. Day after day, I have worked, given, counseled, led, advocated, and served wherever there was a need. I did so willingly because I love this city and its people. However, in my desire to serve everyone else, I neglected to care for myself.
Despite maintaining my prayer life and my commitment to God, I was reminded that I am still human. The constant demands of ministry, public service, and everyday responsibilities gradually took a toll on my mental and emotional well-being until I reached a point of complete exhaustion. Rather than recognizing the need to pause and rest, I kept pushing forward until I simply broke.
My exhaustion does not excuse my behavior. I alone am responsible for the words I chose, and I deeply regret that my actions caused hurt and division.
After prayer, reflection, and recommendations from my doctor and the CIty Council, I made the decision to take a six-week leave of absence from my pastoral and mayoral responsibilities so that I can rest, heal, and restore my mental, emotional, and spiritual health. During my leave of absence, which will culminate during the second week of June, I have taken the steps necessary to return to ministry and the Mayoral office healthier and better equipped to continue serving. I remain committed to fulfilling my responsibilities as Mayor and ensuring that the business of our city continues to move forward with the professionalism and dedication our citizens deserve.
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has reached out with prayers, phone calls, messages, and words of encouragement. Your compassion and support have been a reminder that grace is often extended when we need it most.
I humbly ask for your forgiveness and your continued prayers as I walk through this season of restoration. I also hope that my experience serves as a reminder that leaders are not immune to fatigue and that seeking help and taking time to rest is not a sign of weakness but of wisdom.
It has always been my goal to serve this city with honor, compassion, and integrity. I remain committed to serving the BIG city of Wadley and its citizens.
Thank you for your patience, your understanding, and your grace. May God bless each of you and continue to bless our city.
