Good Luck to Emma Weniger as she wraps up her season today at the Championship Round of the MSHSL State Tournament.

According to Coach Lisa Weniger, Emma had a great round yesterday. She had one "tough hole" but quickly recovered and put it behind her on her way to an 85.

Weinger said, "Emma is enjoying herself and is proud to represent WDC at the State Golf Tournament! She played well yesterday and is looking forward to today!"

We are proud of her too and wish her a great round today and hope the weather holds and maybe it's a bit cooler for her today. Yesterday was in the 90's with high humidity and low wind.

Emma's foursome will tee off today at 12:36 at Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan.

Weniger will take off just enough time after the MSHSL seaon to jump in the car after the meet and head to Lutson, North of Duluth to start her summer golf tournament schedule. Hopefully it is a lot cooler on the beautiful shores of Lake Superior!

Good First Day!

Coach Lisa Weniger reports that Emma Weniger is “ tied for 36 place over all out of 87 girls. Individually she is 15th out of 40 girls.”

Emma shot an 85 today. Best of luck tomorrow in the final round!

Best of Luck to Emma Weniger who will tee off today at 12:27 PM at Ridges at Sand Creek near Jordan.

This is Emma's first State Tournament. She was an all HOL Conference Golfer this season and finished fourth in Section 6AA.

Saving his best for last, WDC Senior Grant Nelson wrapped up an outstanding High School career with a 3rd Place finish at the State Track and Field Meet on Friday Night.

Nelson ran a career best 1:57.11 on Thursday and followed it up with another career best 1:56.57 to capture 3rd on Friday.

What a way to end a High School Career that included six State Tournaments between Cross Country and Track and Field. Grant is an outstanding young man who also was a State Finalist for the AAA Award.

Best of Luck to Grant as he heads to Concordia College to continue his Cross Country and Track careers and studies Pre-Med.

Last night we had a send off for State Golfer Emma Weniger.

According to records that current Head Coach Lisa Weniger and former Head Coach Kevin Ross were able to locate, Emma is the fifth WDC Girls Golfer since the 1981 State Championship Team to qualify individually for State.

Emma will practice today at Ridges at Sand Creek and will tee off at 12:27 tomorrow for the first round of State.

To say Emma loves golf and has put in a ton of time and work to be where she is would be an incredible understatement. She told us last week, she tries to play nearly every day in the summer and hones her craft in the off season with a swing coach and at simulators.

We wish Emma the very best as she gets ready to compete. Congratulations on your accomplishment!
