Crusaders,
Thanks to those of you who were able to make it to the Bearcat Dinner. I saw a lot of significant others and was able to meet with many of you. The Bearcat Dinner is a way of honoring our unit heritage and come together.
In December we will have a unit holiday party and likewise I invite you and your families to attend. We are in the initial planning phases and I encourage you to contact Jacleen with our unit Family Readiness Group if you are interested in helping plan the event. Look for an invite in November, but we would love if you plan to attend.
This year our battalion will be embarking on an exciting training mission, for which our specific company was not tasked. Though some of our soldiers will still be supporting that mission, however. Jacleen and I know these past few years have been particularly difficult for families with the mission to Fort Irwin and the training leading up to it. We can expect that the National Guard will be more heavily utilized for federal missions in the future. That is why we have been training so hard. We want to make sure that your soldiers are well trained and ready for those potential missions. Jacleen and I know the hardships, as I've been absent from my family just as much as your soldiers. But we all serve in different ways, and although you don't wear the uniform, you still serve. And I thank you for your service and continued support.
For those of us staying back, we will still be very busy this year conducting training to include gunnery and maneuver, as well as planning for any potential state mission. And next year we can plan for a historic transition to a reconnaissance role. This is a thrilling time to be in this tank unit.
If there is anything I or my command team can do to support the families, please let 1SG, Jacleen or I know.
