Our parents and grandparents spent years taking care of everybody else.

NOW IT’S THEIR TURN TO HAVE SOME FUN! ❤️

According to the U.S. Census Bureau:

📍 13.4% of Waco residents are age 65 or older.

📍 16.8% of McLennan County residents are age 65 or older.

🧠 The National Institute on Aging reports that approximately 1 in 4 Americans age 65+ is socially isolated.

❤️ WHY DO SENIOR SOCIALS MATTER?

Games, music, crafts, laughter, and meaningful conversations can help:

😊 Support emotional well-being
🤝 Build friendships and reduce loneliness
❤️ Create a sense of belonging

❤️👑 YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE FAMOUS TO BE AN ICON!

When we hear the word ICON, we often think of celebrities, entertainers, and athletes.

But what about the living legends right here in our communities?

❤️ The teachers who educated generations.

❤️ The healthcare workers who cared for us.

🇺🇸 The military veterans who served our country.

❤️ The grocery store workers and small-business owners who served our neighborhoods.

❤️ The parents and grandparents who helped shape our lives.

THESE ARE OUR TRUE ICONS! 👑

At our recent Senior Social, some of our guests shared something that touched my heart. They expressed how grateful they were to have somewhere to go because sometimes they feel forgotten.

And THAT is why ICON exists! ❤️

Our seniors deserve to feel seen, heard, valued, and celebrated.

Because growing older should NEVER mean becoming invisible!

Research suggests these activities can help:
