Today we honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. We stand alongside the families who have lost their loved ones. As many gather for a day off of work and school, let us not lose sight of those who gave everything for the nation we cherish.

The Waco Police Department wishes you a safe Memorial Day.

PHONE SCAMS - The Waco Police Department has been made aware of possible scams where individuals are asked to pay for outstanding traffic violations or related tickets. THESE ARE SCAMS, and Police Agencies or other official government entities will never ask for immediate payment over the phone.

The most repeated scams involve a phone call, text, email, or computer pop-up. These same scams can also come across your accounts, like Google, Amazon, and credit cards.

These scammers are VERY convincing, so if you're asked to "send money right away" to "fix the issue," it is a SCAM. If you think someone might be trying to scam you out of money on the phone or over the internet, discuss the matter with someone you know and trust or contact the police department before you send money.

This month and every month, let’s continue supporting mental wellness, reducing stigma, and reminding others they matter. 💚

We are always here for you, Waco!
