Just a quick reminder that this is the last week to order See’s Candies in support of the North San Diego Young Marines. The fundraiser ends March 20.

Our Young Marines are local youth (ages 8–18) who focus on leadership, physical fitness, and community service. Many of you may have seen them volunteering at community events around Vista, and if you’ve seen the American flags lining Main Street on patriotic holidays, those are placed by our Young Marines after sunrise and respectfully retired at sunset.

Your support helps fund training events, leadership development, encampments, and community service activities for these young leaders.

Our Young Marines proudly serve the Vista community year-round — supporting major events like the Rod Run, Vista Parade, and Strawberry Festival, assisting with flag placements on patriotic holidays, and showing up whenever our city calls.

Now we’re asking our community to show up for them.

Character is built in the small, consistent acts no one applauds.

This President’s Day, our North San Diego Young Marines were up shortly after sunrise placing flags along Main Street in Vista — and returned before sunset to respectfully retire them.

Come rain or shine, they show up.
They serve.
They honor.

This is how leadership is formed, through discipline, commitment, and love of country.

YM/GySgt Aaron Vanderlipe and YM/MSgt James Calderon have retired from the Young Marine program today. We want to thank them for their sacrifice and efforts they've put into this program and our unit. We wish them good luck as they start their new journeys.

With that our new Senior Young Marine leading our unit is YM/Sgt Kaylie Calderon! She will be taking over of the unit from her brother, YM/MSgt James Calderon.
