56 Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives sent a letter warning Secretary of Education Linda McMahon that the Department of Education’s plan to eliminate the Office of English Language Acquisition (OELA) will significantly harm millions of students in our country. They urged the Department not to dismantle OELA because the ramifications for 5.3 million English learners would be devastating. It also would weaken the Department’s ability to administer Title III programs under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. Now more than ever, it's essential to make our voices heard in advocating for our students.
