🚨 Officers Respond to Mental Health Crisis 🚨

Visalia Area CHP officers recently responded to a call regarding a possible suicidal subject. Officers located and safely stopped the vehicle and discovered a loaded fi***rm inside. The fi***rm had malfunctioned, with a round lodged in the chamber.

Officers safely secured the fi***rm and the driver was transported for a mental health evaluation.

This incident is a reminder that recognizing the warning signs of a mental health crisis can make a difference. If you notice significant changes in a family member, friend, coworker, or loved one—such as withdrawing from others, expressing hopelessness, talking about su***de, or giving away possessions—take those signs seriously.

You don’t have to handle it alone. Reach out, listen without judgment, and help connect them with professional support. If someone is in immediate danger, call 911.

💙 A conversation could save a life.

Today, we pay tribute to a fallen brother, California Highway Patrol Officer Jesus “Jesse” Magdaleno. Jesse was killed while attempting to rescue his brother-in-law from a carjacking while on vacation. We still miss him dearly. Continue to rest in peace, brother.

Giving back to the community we serve! 💙💙
Our Visalia CHP Explorers recently spent time volunteering with Salt+Light. Explorers got the opportunity to interact with local residents, lend a helping hand setting up, and assist with loading items throughout the event.
We are so proud of these young leaders for showing dedication, compassion, and true community spirit! 🚔✨
Interested in making a difference, gaining leadership skills, and exploring a career in law enforcement? Contact your local CHP office to learn how you can join the Explorer Program!

August is Back to School Safety Month. As students head back to school, let’s work together to keep every trip a safe one.

• Slow down in school zones and obey posted speed limits.
• Stop for school buses when required.
• Watch for children crossing streets.
• Put the phone away and stay focused behind the wheel.
• Give extra space to students walking or riding their bikes.

A few extra seconds of caution can make all the difference. Let’s help every student arrive safely this school year. 🚌
