We were honored to help celebrate the arrival of the County of Tulare's Office of the Assessor/Clerk-Recorder to Government Plaza in Visalia, California.

At the Tulare County Resource Management Agency, our services span Economic Development & Planning, Fiscal Services, and Public Works. Much of the land-use work we engage in, from building permits to business support, involves an acronym you may have heard of: the APN. APN stands for Assessor Parcel Number, an identifying number for each parcel of land in our county. Given that we work so closely on land matters in Tulare County, the arrival of the Assessor/Clerk-Recorder's team to our same building will complement the business services we already offer, along with Tulare County Health and Human Services, which provides food permits and inspections, among other business services, to our entire region.

Now, if you purchase or own a plot of land in Tulare County and need to make updates to your land records (such as changing ownership information), the Assessor/Clerk-Recorder team has got your back, and if you are wondering what else you can do with that land, you can walk across the lobby to the RMA, and we will guide you every step of the way as you explore whether to build a new home or a new business. All these improvements are driven by one goal: making life easier for our residents, businesses, and visitors.

Save a windshield. Take the detour. 🚧
 
RMA’s 2026 chip seal work began Aug. 17 and is expected to be completed on Sept. 9. Even after crews have finished a section, drivers should continue to use caution as loose aggregate may remain on the roadway.

Loose gravel is part of the chip seal process, and driving through active work areas can kick up rock and debris. When possible, use an alternate route to help reduce the risk of windshield chips and give road crews more room to work safely.
 
If you do travel through a chip seal zone, slow down, leave extra space and follow posted traffic controls.

The County of Tulare invites the public to comment on the closeout of Community Development Block Grant 22-CDBG-HA-10028, awarded in 2023 to support the Housing Emergency Repair Program.

ROAD CLOSURE | Avenue 272 at Shirk Road
A road closure will begin Tuesday, September 1 as work moves forward on the Sequoia Gateway Drive Improvements Project.

• Location: Avenue 272 at Shirk Road (Road 92)
• Closure: Sept. 1 at 7 a.m. through Oct. 12 at 7 a.m.
• Detour: A detour will be in place throughout the closure

The closure will remain in effect during non-working hours, and emergency services have been notified.
Sequoia Gateway is a planned commercial development area along Highway 99 near Caldwell Avenue, west of Visalia. The current $1.56 million Measure R-funded project will extend Sequoia Gateway Drive, construct a new two-lane roadway and realign Drive 85, improving public infrastructure while helping prepare the area for private investment, new businesses and future job creation.

Motorists should allow additional travel time, follow posted detour signs and use caution in the area.

Back to school means more students are walking, biking and crossing streets throughout Tulare County. 🚸

As students head back to class, remember to slow down, stay alert and watch for pedestrians in and around school zones.
