The Wisconsin Department of Children and Families (DCF) today announced the approval of an administrative rule designed to improve licensing, regulation, and quality of care youth receive in group home settings.

The revised rule aligns with Wisconsin’s Putting Families First efforts that are transforming group care to be more trauma-sensitive and child centric with high-quality, community-based placement settings.

Through 11 am, lines of storms tracking east and northeast. Some of these storms could be strong to severe in northeast Iowa and southwest Wisconsin. Wind gusts to 50 to 70 mph. Heavy rainfall could lead to localized, street flooding.

Some of you may have heard of the Wisconsin Act 115, commonly being referred to as Patient’s Representative Law, that went into effect on June 1, 2026. This law updated Wis. Stat. § 50.06 and allows an alternative track for post hospital care admissions. If an incapacitated hospital patient does not have a health care power of attorney, the law allows a "patient representative" to consent for admission into a skilled nursing facility or community based residential facility. The patient does not choose their patient representative as it is based on next of kin. To protect the rights and choices of elders, we are strongly encouraging power of attorney paperwork to be completed. For more resources, please visit:
