On May 27, 2026, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Westby-Christiana Fire Department was paged to 405 South Main Street in the City of Westby for a reported vehicle fire. Initial reports advised that nobody was inside the vehicle, however the vehicle was parked near a building creating concern for possible extension.

Units responded and were able to quickly knock down the fire. Damage was isolated to the vehicle and no damage to the nearby building was reported.

We would also like to recognize the efforts of the employees at the business who used fire extinguishers prior to our arrival to help prevent further damage until fire apparatus arrived on scene. Their quick actions helped keep the incident from escalating.

Assisting at the scene were the Westby Police Department and the Vernon County Sheriff's Office

All units cleared the scene shortly after 6:00 p.m.
