Hello everyone, JOB's Daughters Bethel #2, a Masonic youth organization, invites you to a fundraiser on May 26th at Red Robin, 4999 Kietzke Lane, Reno. The event will raise funds for the bethel's activities, Red Robin is generously allowing them to keep 20% of the total proceeds which going towards trips, education, and other activities that the bethel continually provides. Your participation would be greatly appreciated by our youth.

Job’s Daughters Bethel #2 recently welcomed new members on March 19 2026, an occasion celebrated with attendees from the Order of the Eastern Star ADA Chapter and Masonic Lodges Washoe #35, Reno #13, and Escurial #7. The chapter’s growth is attributed to the dedication of Majority members and Bethel Guardians. These young women are the future of our Masonic family.

Our sustained support is essential for their continued success.

📜 From the Archives of Escurial Lodge No. 7

Preserved in the archives of Escurial Lodge No. 7 in Virginia City is a remarkable scrapbook titled “Escurial Lodge No. 7 Bills.” The volume contains hundreds of original invoices and receipts documenting the everyday expenses of the lodge during the late nineteenth century.

Escurial No. 7 Bills Scrapbook

The receipts date from the late 1880s through the mid-1890s and were carefully pasted into the scrapbook, likely by a lodge officer who gathered several years of financial records and preserved them in one place. Scrapbooks like this were a common way for organizations to organize and retain important documents before modern accounting systems were widely used.

The bills themselves tell the story of daily life at the lodge and the businesses that served the community of Virginia City during the Comstock era. Local merchants, printers, undertakers, and service providers all appear in the pages. Some invoices show payments for gas lighting, while others document electric lighting service in the 1890s, reflecting the technological changes taking place in Virginia City at the time.

These everyday records reveal how closely the lodge was connected to the local economy and community. Each receipt represents a small piece of the history of Escurial Lodge No. 7 and the people and businesses that helped sustain it during one of Nevada’s most important historic periods.
