H.R. 2137 and S. 1657, the Review Every Veterans Claim Act of 2025, would prohibit the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) from denying a veteran's claim solely because the veteran did not attend a scheduled compensation and pension medical examination.

Under this legislation, VA would be required to consider the full scope of evidence—including service medical records, private treatment records and lay statements—before rendering a decision. This ensures the VA upholds its duty to assist veterans and prevent unjust claims denials.

No veteran should ever lose access to the benefits they earned due to bureaucratic hurdles, scheduling mistakes or unavoidable conflicts.

Please contact your Representative and Senators and urge them to support and cosponsor H.R. 2137/S. 1657, the Review Every Veterans Claim Act of 2025.

Every November 11, Americans pause to honor the brave men and women who have served in our military. Whether it’s a veteran you know personally or heroes you’ll never meet, Veterans Day is a chance to reflect, remember, and show gratitude.

The official birthday of the United States Marine Corps is on 10 November 1775. That was the day when the Second Continental Congress established the Continental Marines.
Tun Tavern, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is regarded as the birthplace of the Corps as the location of the first Marines to enlist under Commandant Samuel Nicholas, though it is disputed if a recruiting drive may have occurred earlier at Nicholas's family tavern, the Conestoga Waggon.
When the Revolutionary War ended in 1783, the Continental Navy was disestablished, and with it, the Continental Marines. The Corps was re-established on 11 July 1798, when the act for establishing and organizing a Marine Corps was signed by President John Adams.

Frank S. Wright, a WWII veteran who enlisted at just 16 and went on to fight in some of the most brutal battles of the Pacific. His service includes being bayoneted in the stomach during fierce hand-to-hand combat while liberating Guam, and later being shot in the chest and arm by machine-gun fire during the relentless fighting on Iwo Jima. This hardened Marine, whose awards include the Purple Heart with two stars, was honorably discharged as a Corporal in 1946. Now, 79 years later, at the age of 100, he was fittingly promoted to the honorary rank of Sergeant by the 39th Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. Eric M. Smith.

Sgt. Wright's bravery, sacrifice, and longevity are a powerful reminder of the remarkable individuals who have served our nation. We owe a debt of gratitude to veterans like him.
