I wish I had words for today...it’s the day I’ve been dreading because the inevitable happened. Today I had to let go of a dream. No matter how sad today was for me I am beyond grateful for the volunteers who swooped in and picked up the donation of the majority of our contents. It brings me peace knowing a piece of Green Bean will continue to help make children happy. I am humbled by my team who without hesitation spent their Saturday moving mountains to help empty out this space that’s been loved for 7+ years. I felt happy hearing these babes in the picture laugh, play, at talk about how much they will miss Green Bean - these little ones have spent many hours at the Bean over the years and I hope their memories here are long lasting!

So, our play structure is the last piece that needs to find a new home. It’s large and I know it’s going to take a special situation to actually accommodate such a piece! I am happy to make a charitable donation to a qualified organization or discuss pricing for anyone who might be interested! The catch is, we need to make this happen TOMORROW! If interested, please private message me! With the time sensitivity, we will have to work on a first come first serve basis!

* Update 12/28/20 - we were unable to find anyone who was able to commit to taking over. Sadly, Green Bean is permanently closed...we hope that in the months to come we find ourselves in a pandemic free world and someone decides to open something similar to Green Bean - all the kiddos in our area deserve it! (So do the moms, dads, grands, and all caretakers of our youngest generation!) thanks for all the love and support ❤️

Today I started to make a plan about emptying out our facility. The rational side of me knows this is what I have to do, but my heart hurts and the romantic side of me just has to give it one last shot.

I have bitten off more in life then I can chew, but I believe wholeheartedly that someone else can give this business what it deserves to thrive. In my absolute last stitch effort - I want it be known that my ultimate goal is to do what’s best for Green Bean so if someone was interested and able, I would gift the business to an eligible entrepreneur. This business is about community and the welfare of young children and their caretakers. It’s more then just a play place and I’d love for it to live on.

The bean symbolizes beginnings...is there anyone or a group of people who are interested in a new beginning? Maybe this is the opportunity you didn’t know you needed!

Nothing quite like the feeling of turning off the lights after a busy party weekend...how fortunate are we to have had the pleasure of celebrating so many birthdays over the years! This weekend included! Thank you to ALL of you who have shared these precious memories with us! ❤️

This is the post I have been dreading for quite sometime. Even before COVID, we struggled, but somehow we got by. I’ve always considered us the little play place that could...because if you think you can, you can, and we held on with everything we had. Green Bean has been serving our community for 7 years, 4 of which I have had the greatest pleasure being a part of. Sadly, through COVID, I have run out of steam. Our lease expires next month and we will not be able to renew. We will remain open in accordance with our current schedule (M, W, F 9:30am - 12:30pm) until Friday Oct 16th. I ask you to please consider joining us in our final weeks, come enjoy the magic of children lost in imaginative play, spend time with Jackie - the heart and soul of our playroom, and allow your kids to play freely and safely with all the opportunities we have to offer. We will not be able to refund any membership cards, so please try to take advantage of them while you still can. And who knows, maybe there’s someone out there who has steam to give...as this chapter comes to an end for me, I would love nothing more for it to be just the beginning for someone else!

Thanks a million for all the love and support through the years...you guys have made this journey incredible! ❤️

This bakery is in Williamsburg and the goodies are delish! I’m not sure if Dwan will still be able to deliver to Virginia Beach - if not the drive is well worth it. * Please remember, our cafe is not open right not, you may bring sealed drinks and light snacks that MUST be eaten in the cafe. Anything left unattended will be thrown away. We are also doing no touch temperature readings...anyone with a temperature over 100.4 will not be permitted in the playroom.

I ordered a cake for my father in laws 70th birthday, Dwan was booked for the weekend so I was getting it early and freezing it because this cake is THAT good. This morning I was expecting the message from The Maple Pig Cupcakery to say they were en route, instead Dwan explained her husband was in an accident and had passed away. She wanted to make sure I still got the cake even though she is dealing with the sudden loss of her partner in life. I’ve been impressed with Dwan since the first time I met her at Hampton Roads Moms birthday celebration held at Green Bean in March. Her husband and sons are so supportive of her dream and together they are building something special.
