This weekend, members of the Virginia Beach Sheriff's Office were proud to stand alongside Special Olympics Virginia athletes, fellow law enforcement officers, volunteers, families, sponsors, and fans during the 2026 Summer Games in Richmond.

From last week's Law Enforcement Torch Run to the Opening Ceremony. From the opening ceremony to the games and the final events, this weekend was a reminder of what can happen when an entire community comes together to support inclusion, determination, and achievement. Every sport played, every medal earned, every cheer from the stands helped make these games unforgettable.

Thank you to everyone who made it all possible and successful. We are honored to be part of Special Olympics VA and proud to support these incredible athletes.

What a great way to wrap up the 2025-26 school year!📚

The Virginia Beach Sheriff’s Office was proud to once again participate in Judge Timothy Quick’s Third Grade Mentorship Program end-of-year picnic, celebrating another successful year of mentoring students from Parkway and Green Run elementaries.

The afternoon was filled with fun, friendship and community connections as mentors and mentees gathered to celebrate their accomplishments. A special thank you to VBSO’s Summit Food Service leaders for providing a delicious lunch for everyone.

Students also enjoyed visits from our public safety partners, including the Virginia Beach Police Department’s Mounted Patrol Unit, SWAT Team, Youth Services Unit, the Virginia Beach Fire Department and Ocean Martial Arts.

We are grateful to Judge Quick and Sheriff Rocky Holcomb for their continued leadership of this impactful program and for allowing us to be part of the positive relationships and lasting memories created throughout the school year. 💙

Congratulations to our Basic Academy Class 62 recruits for completing the 3.1-mile Law Enforcement Torch Run on Wednesday in support of Special Olympics Virginia.
From day one, these future deputies have been building the physical and mental toughness needed for the job. This run was another opportunity to demonstrate their teamwork, determination and commitment while supporting an incredible cause.

Keep pushing forward, BAC 62 — Graduation Day is getting closer! We can't wait to see you cross the stage on June 25.

❤️ A simple act of kindness can make a big difference.

On Tuesday, members of New Jerusalem Ministries visited the Virginia Beach Correctional Center and delivered care packages to inmates in C3A. The packages included hygiene items, notepads, puzzle books and candy.

The inmates were grateful for this thoughtful gesture and appreciated the church’s message of love, encouragement and hope.

Thank you to New Jerusalem Ministries for taking the time to invest in others and remind them that they are valued members of our community.
