Senior Paramedic Jamie Czajka is officially retired! Virginia Beach EMS, friends and family gathered at EMS Headquarters today to honor Jamie’s more than 20 years of dedicated service to the Virginia Beach community. Throughout her career, Jamie provided life‑saving prehospital care to thousands of patients in the field. She also made a profound impact as a lead instructor at the VBEMS Training Center, teaching and mentoring countless students who now serve as EMS providers in our community.

Thank you, Jamie! Your service has shaped countless lives, and your legacy will continue to strengthen our EMS system for years to come.

Virginia Beach EMS assisted Currituck County Fire & EMS overnight on a mutual aid call, receiving an Advanced Life Support (ALS) patient who traveled up the beach from Carova. Currituck crews met with EMS units Ambulance 520P, EMS 4, and EMS Chief 10 for transfer of care, showcasing strong collaboration across jurisdictions.

Virginia Beach EMS and the Virginia Beach Fire Department worked together overnight on a challenging, extended vehicle extrication on Dam Neck Road. After a vehicle crashed into a tree, crews from both agencies quickly went to work to safely free a trapped patient.

During the operation, a paramedic was able to enter the vehicle to provide medical care and comfort while Fire and EMS personnel coordinated extrication efforts around them. Their teamwork and steady communication helped ensure a safe and successful rescue.

Engine 21, EMS 4, EMS Batt 200, and EMS Chief 10, Ambulance 1721P responded.

Virginia Beach EMS had the opportunity to participate in VA Greek Picnic's "Save a Life" event on Saturday.
Participants gathered at the Princess Anne YMCA to meet first responders and learn vital emergency skills. VBEMS led hands-on sessions, teaching community members how to perform CPR and how to stop severe bleeding. Thank you to everyone who came out, participated, and helped strengthen our community’s safety and preparedness! 💙
