This week, our Outstanding Seven Safety Patrol members Julius, Yanelsie, Ivy, Destiny, Sianni, Eli and Blanca (not pictured), were honored at the annual Safety Patrol Recognition Ceremony! 🎉

Throughout the year, these exceptional students have helped make Barse a better place through their leadership, responsibility, and commitment to service. Whether assisting their fellow students each day or giving back to the community through acts of service, they have represented our school with pride and have made a positive impact on everyone around them.

A special congratulations goes to Destiny King, this year's Gold Badge Award recipient! Nominated by our staff, Destiny was new to Barse this year, but quickly became a bright light in our school community. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, never hesitated to share her smile with everyone she met, and consistently led by example. Through her kindness, leadership, and positive attitude, Destiny truly embodied what it means to be a Safety Patrol member and role model.

We would also like to recognize Miss Caitlyn Muller, who served as our Safety Patrol advisor for the first time this year. Miss Muller did a phenomenal job guiding and supporting our students, helping them develop as leaders while fostering a spirit of service and teamwork throughout the year. Her dedication and enthusiasm played an important role in the success of this year's program.
We are incredibly proud of our Outstanding Seven, Destiny, and Miss Muller. Thank you for making Barse a better place each and every day. The future is bright, and we can't wait to see all that these student leaders accomplish in the years ahead! ⭐👏

🐸 The countdown is on for the Barse Bear Players production of A Year with Frog and Toad Kids!

Next week, 53 students in grades K–5 will take the stage or work behind the scenes to bring this show to life. Over the past several months, they have worked incredibly hard learning songs, practicing dances, memorizing lines, and building the confidence to perform in front of an audience.

More than a show, this experience has been about teamwork, perseverance, and having the courage to try something new. We are so proud of the dedication and growth our students have shown throughout this journey.

We can't wait to watch our Barse Bears shine next week!

Girls in grades K–5 are invited to join Girl Scouts of Central & Southern New Jersey for “Treasure Tins & Tiny Things,” a free event taking place Monday, June 15, 2026, from 5:00–6:30 p.m. at 3 NE Blvd in Newfield, NJ.

Participants will have the opportunity to create, curate, connect, and explore through a fun keepsake-making experience while learning more about Girl Scouts and the different ways to get involved. Families can scan the QR code on the flyer to register. For questions, contact [email protected].

Mondays can be tough... especially when there's no school on Tuesday! 😎

To help kick off the week with a little extra fun, all students who come to school tomorrow (Monday, June 1) can enjoy a FREE Dress Down Day!

We have just 17 days of school remaining, and every day counts. We can't wait to see our Barse Bears tomorrow for a day of learning, laughter, and a little extra comfort!

🥳 This Friday is FIELD DAY! Information was sent home and shared in our electronic Wednesday folder.
📖 Yearbook orders are due Friday, May 29
👉 No school for students on Tuesday, June 2nd.
🏥 Medications in the nurse’s office must be picked up by June 25th or they will be discarded.
👖 We are collecting gently used uniforms!
🐸 Join us for our first school performance in years! “Frog and Toad Kids” will be presented by our K-5 students on June 10th at 6:30 PM.

Let’s finish the year strong! 💙💛 There is so much fun to be had and many memories to be made!

As we head into the final days of May, we are looking forward to another exciting week at Dane Barse Elementary! 🇺🇸❤️

Today, on Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

This week ahead:
🚌 Wednesday – Kindergarten Class Trip
☀️ Friday – FIELD DAY fun for all K-5 students!

While there is so much fun ahead, there is still plenty of learning happening in our classrooms as we finish the school year strong! 📚💪

🎭 Frog and Toad rehearsals will now be extended until 5:30 PM through the show date.

👕 We are also collecting gently used school uniforms! If your family has any to donate, we would greatly appreciate it.

🐻💛 Bears Who Care Spotlight 💛🐻

Today we are celebrating Aeden, Eva, Elara, Kali, and Jayla for showing outstanding kindness and compassion toward others!

These students went out of their way to help classmates and teachers, often giving up activities they were enjoying in order to lend a helping hand. Their actions showed selflessness, thoughtfulness, and a true willingness to put others first.

We are so proud of the care, empathy, and positive example these Bears set for our school community each day. Thank you for showing what it means to be a Bear Who Cares! 🐾

🍦❄️ Our 3rd grade families “chilled” with us during a fun-filled parent involvement event centered around ice cream, STEAM, and multiplication fluency!

Families attempted to make homemade ice cream alongside their students. While some enjoyed a scoop of ice cream and others ended up with a milkshake, a great time was had by all! Parents were able to empathize with their students’ experiences and were reminded that experiments and learning opportunities are not always successful on the first try.

STEAM activities were sent home for continued learning and fun at home, and conversations shifted to “Ice Cream Math” and the importance of multiplication fact fluency. Each student received a deck of cards and a list of engaging games families can play together to strengthen multiplication skills.

To support all of our families, all materials and activities were provided in both English and Spanish. Following the event, families also received a parent feedback form so we can continue improving opportunities for family engagement and learning.

A big shoutout to Abby, Natalia, Jeremiah, Dylan, and Richard for showing what it truly means to be Bears Who Care!

These students have gone above and beyond by lending helping hands to classmates and teachers, sharing educational games and strategies, helping others grow in their literacy skills, cleaning up, and contributing to positive classroom environments.

We are so proud of the kindness, leadership, teamwork, and responsibility these Bears demonstrate each day. Keep BEARing your best! 🐾
