The volunteer members of Vineland Fire Co 1 started serving the citizens of the Old Boro of Vineland in 1872. The company was originally started as the Vineland Hook & Ladder Co #1. The 2 companies later merged to form the Pioneer Fire Co. Two of our original engines still survive today, a 1930 & 1935 Seagrave Fire Engines. In 1915 a second Fire Co was formed named the Reliance Fire Co. The old Re

liance Fire Station can still be seen today on S.6th St. With old stations being needed to be upgraded the City thought it was time to build a new Fire Station at 4th & Wood St. with both companies being merged into the present day Vineland Fire Co #1. After a temporary station and several years of delay the members finally moved into the present day Fire Station #1 at 810 E. Chestnut Ave in Sept of 2013.

Mr. Cresci, a District Chief of the Vineland Fire Department, traveled to Vineland High School to provide a very informative assembly to a handful of potential volunteer firefighters. Each Vineland High School student learned the benefits and expectations of joining the Vineland Fire Department and the hard work it takes to work your way up through the department. VHS students will be able to follow up with the Vineland FD at an upcoming VHS Job Fair on April 17th or by filling out their interest form on the Vineland FD web site.
