🏠 IMPORTANT PROPERTY TAX INFORMATION FOR INDIANA SENIORS

For property taxes payable in 2027:

✅ The Over 65 Credit may provide an annual property-tax credit of up to $150.

✅ The Over 65 Circuit Breaker Credit generally limits the year-over-year increase in a qualifying senior’s homestead property-tax liability to 2%—including an increase attributable to a referendum—after other applicable credits are applied.

The income limits for the Over 65 Circuit Breaker Credit are:

• $61,680 or less for a single taxpayer
• $71,960 or less for a married couple filing jointly

Recent changes also removed the previous $240,000 assessed-value limit. Eligible taxpayers may receive both senior benefits.

These credits are not automatic. Seniors must meet all eligibility requirements and submit State Form 43708 by January 15, 2027, to the county auditor.

Emergency closure at State Road 159.

📍Heads up Knox County drivers, an emergency road closure is planned for State Road 159 in Freelandville. This closure will begin after school bus traffic tomorrow, April 21st.

The road closure is due to an emergency pipe replacement project. This project is required following the discovery of a failed pipe and resulting sinkhole.
