What has 4-H Meant to Me: I have looked forward to the fair every summer
because of 4-H. This program has given me
friendships and fun. 4-H has also taught me so much about the importance of planning, commitment and leadership. I will take the memories made and use the skills 4-H has taught with me in so many
future endeavors.

My Future Plans: I will be attending the University of Alabama this fall on a full tuition scholarship with a double major in dance and marketing. I plan to participate in Dance Alabama as well as the Alabama Panhellenic Recruitment process.

What 4-H Meant to Me: 4-H has given me the opportunity to grow, learn and make life-long memories. I enjoy showing my cows and working hard to care for them, which has taught me responsibility and dedication. Some of my favorite memories come from sitting in the cattle barn during fair week and talking with people. 4-H has made me feel apart of a community.

My Future Plans: I plan to go to Purdue University—Pre Pharmacy and pursue my doctorate of pharmacy and start my clinical rotations.

Favorite 4-H Project: Sheep & Sewing

What 4-H Meant to Me: 4-H is about trying new things, meeting new people, learning new skills, and learning about yourself along the way. You learn to collaborate with others, work to achieve your goals, and manage time and materials to get the job done. 4-H to me is about branching out of your comfort zone and learning what you are capable of that you may never have even considered. 4-H is not only about accomplishing projects, but learning skills and building a strong community that will last a life time.

My Future Plans: I plan to attend Saint Louis University next fall to study Psychology and Occupational Sciences. I hope to study abroad in Madrid for a semester and immerse myself into a new culture. I will work toward completing a 5 year Occupational Therapy Masters Program. After completing my masters, I hope to work in a Children’s Hospital as an Occupational Therapist.

Lauren said “The project I enjoyed the most was sewing and fashion r***e because I got to work many hours with my grandma by my side assisting me. I got to learn a new skill and be creative in what I made. The end product of my outfit each year gave me a sense a pride and accomplishment because I spent many long hours on a project that turned out successful. I also enjoyed being able to dress up and showcase my hard work and dedication.”

What 4-H Meant to Me: 4-H has given me the chance to experience things that I would have never done if I did not do 4-H. It has also helped me gain new friends and life skills that will help me with my future career. 4-H has been a highlight of my summer and this chapter of my life is going to be a sad one to close, but I know that another chapter in my life is about to start.

My Future Plans: I plan to major in nursing with a minor in British Studies or Pre-Law. In my Junior year of college, I am going to study abroad at Harlaxton located in Grantham England. After college, I plan to work as an ER nurse and later get my certification to be a Sexual Assault Examiner.

Favorite 4-H Memory: Being one of four representatives for Knox County to show in the coliseum. I won the Reserve Champion Honor Dorset Market Lamb award and I became the first person in my family to show in the Coliseum at the Indiana State Fair.

Hey, Knox County! DYK that Purdue has a research farm in your back yard? This article talks about just one of the many crops grown at the Southwest Purdue Agricultural Center just north of Vincennes. Having this resource centralized here is a proven boon for local growers as researchers trial best varieties, pest control, food safety and more in support of Indiana agriculture.
