Spring has arrived in VH... we hope, but regardless, our Public Works Crew will be out on the road, ditching, doing shoulder repairs, and replacing culverts.
If you see our Road Work signs, please slow down, move through our work areas carefully, and follow the direction of any crew members that may be guiding you.
At this time, we are working on the area of Vinal Cove on the Calderwood Neck Rd. We will be working with a 3-person crew and may not be able to have a person flagging; those in the dump trucks or the excavator operator will assist in getting you through safely. Bear with us, so that we can successfully improve this road and drainage. Thank you

As the storm comes upon us, we are expecting 2 to 4 inches of snow. If you are on a dirt road, it is very likely that we are not able to plow that road during the storm. Frost is coming out of the ground and the surface of these roads will not hold up to plows or the weight of our trucks. Our hope is that we do not get more than 4 inches. If we do, we will revisit so that emergency vehicles and residents can easily get through.
Thank you

Public Works will take advantage of a few days without snow in the forecast to remove the sander from the pickup, allowing us to hook up the Hot box and do some tar patching on Monday.
One extreme to the next, then back to snow ready again...Can't believe I am looking forward to mud season!!

Huge thank you to Kirsten Barton, for making us stuffed shells for our dinner, and breakfast sandwiches for later! Sooo good!
We all really appreciate it!

Taking a short break from plowing to give an update on road conditions.
Visibility is terrible while driving. As soon as we plow an area, it blows right back in, leaving significant snow drifts in the roadway, while other areas have very little snow. Please stay in and off the roads. If you do go out, be sure your headlights are on, and you drive slowly. I expect these conditions to continue through the night. We will do our best to keep things clear; however, so far, that has been a challenge.

Stay in, stay warm, and stay safe!

Due to the snowstorm coming in this evening, there will be a parking ban in effect for all of Main Street the town parking lot and all public side roads. Please be sure your vehicle vehicles are removed prior to 9 PM and remain out of those areas until 9 AM tomorrow morning.

Please stay off the roads if at all possible. If you see a snow plow coming your way please pull over and slow down to allow us to safely get by. Thank you everyone stay warm and stay safe.
