9/14 Downtown Project Schedule & Updates

Roads and Sidewalks – The road extending from the Ferry Terminal to Windy Way will be reclaimed on Wednesday and Thursday of this week–September 16 & 17. Mobilization will take place TOMORROW (September 15) not today as previously stated.

There will be NO PARKING ON MAIN STREET from the ferry terminal to Windy Way on Wednesday and Thursday.
There will be parking available at the Net Factory Site and in the Downtown and Commercial Lots.

There will be single-lane traffic on Main Street during construction.

The reclamation process involves grinding up the existing pavement and spreading reclaimed material back onto the roadway. Be prepared for increased truck traffic and dust along Main Street. Plan on extra travel time and avoid unnecessary travel on the roadway.

The final layer of pavement and sidewalk construction will take place next spring. JBI anticipates shutting down construction for the winter by mid-November and resuming work in the spring.

Stormwater – Today, JBI will be continuing to work in front of FIEC/Salt/ the Sand Bar, and Windhorse Arts/New Era Gallery. There will be single lane traffic around the construction site. Please be mindful of traffic control and drive slowly over crosscuts and through the construction zone.

In addition, all along the Main Street corridor, the crew will be working to prepare drain manhole covers and other water/stormwater components for the road reclamation process. Please be mindful of crew working in the roadway today and tomorrow.

🚧The road extending from the Ferry Terminal to Windy Way will be reclaimed next week. Mobilization will take place on Monday, September 14. Road work will begin on Tuesday, September 15 and is scheduled to last through Thursday, September 17.

The sale of extra antlerless deer permits begins Tuesday, September 15 at 9:30am.

During the antlerless deer permit lottery, there were more permits available than number of applications we received for WMDs 15, 16, 17, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 26a, and 29. To help reach population management goals in these districts, these extra permits will be available for purchase online at mefishwildlife.com/deerpermit.

All hunters, including those who did not apply to the lottery, those who received a permit through the lottery, and those that applied to the lottery but did not receive a permit through the lottery, may purchase an antlerless deer permit on a first come, first served basis.

There will be single lane traffic around the construction site. Please be mindful of traffic control and drive slowly over crosscuts and through the construction zone.

Roads and Sidewalks – The road extending from the Ferry Terminal to Windy Way will be reclaimed beginning Tuesday, September 15. Mobilization will take place on Monday, with road work occurring Tuesday through Wednesday or Thursday. There will be single-lane traffic on Main Street during construction. The roadway will remain gravel until mid-October, when the first layer of pavement will be installed on the road and in the bank parking lot. A water truck will remain on the island during this period to help with dust control.
