Ville Platte Vol. Fire Department

Ville Platte Vol. Fire Department The VPVFD is a PIAL/ISO Class 2 combination-staffed fire department in south-central rural Louisiana.

The Ville Platte Fire Department of today was founded by Phillip Milton Reed in 1920. That founding year was significant as it was only months after the tragic Dance Hall Fire of November 22, 1919. It is believed that before the Dance Hall Tragedy, Ville Platte's Fire Department consisted merely of a loosely-organized bucket-brigade of volunteers with little or no training in fire suppression know

ledge of that time. As the organization grew and improved over the next several years, the town of Ville Platte purchased its first "new" and modern fire engine in 1927. Today's VPFD is composed of a few integral parts, each one highly dependent on the others, to accomplish our common goal of "Saving Life & Property" through Planning, Prevention, & Suppression/Rescue. Mission Statement:
The Ville Platte Volunteer Fire Department's mission is to save lives, reduce the risk of injury, and prevent property loss through fire suppression & rescue services, education in community risk reduction & fire prevention, and pre-incident planning, while maintaining high standards of professionalism, training, and readiness.

๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿš’ Itโ€™s Home Fire Sprinkler Week! ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ”ฅ

Did you know that home fire sprinklers can reduce the risk of dying in a home fire by about 90%? These systems respond quickly, often controlling or extinguishing a fire before firefighters even arrive โ€” giving families valuable time to escape safely.

Modern home fire sprinklers are:
โœ… Fast-acting
โœ… Reliable
โœ… Designed to protect lives and property
โœ… Activated individually โ€” not all at once

Fire can spread in less than 2 minutes. A home fire sprinkler system helps provide peace of mind when every second counts.

This week, help us spread awareness about the importance of residential fire sprinklers and fire-safe homes. Together, we can save lives.

Ville Platte Fire Department will begin hydrant flow testing the NW section of town this coming week but will continue hydrant inspection throughout the city until done. This requires hydrant flushing and may cause water discoloration from moving the sediment. If you notice any discoloration, running your exterior faucets until clear should help.

We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
