I truly believe parents deserve a seat at the table and a voice in their children's education.

Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day!! It was such a beautiful day! I got a few more signs in the ground and was able to visit with some district 9 residents. I enjoyed my visits and can’t wait to continue getting to know everyone !!! Thank you so much for the support I truly do appreciate it!

The comments by this Louisiana state representative absolutely infuriates me.

I recently had an issue concerning my daughter that I felt needed to be heard. Like this representative suggested I followed the chain of command(which I 100% agree this should always be the steps taken ) the concern was unable to be resolved and that led me to a school board meeting where they voted against allowing me to speak. I was placed on the agenda incorrectly ,I completely understand that ,but they had the option to vote to allow me to speak and 7 of the 13 Voted against allowing me to voice my concerns.

Days later after speaking with a few board members I was told “if we would have allowed you to speak we would have had to allow others who usually cause trouble to also speak and that was not something we wanted to do “ and I believe the other excuse that the Gazette actually wrote about was that allowing me to speak would have been like opening Pandora’s box.

I still do not accept those very cowardly excuses and I can’t help but ask myself if listening to the concerns of parents is too “problematic” then why is this a job you want so badly??

“Be the Change you wish to see in the world” –Gandhi

An extremely sweet and thoughtful person gave me this card when I originally decided to run for school board office. I have this card where I can see it everyday and it continues to remind me why I am doing this.

So, why do I want to do this? Because the decisions of the school board directly affect the most important parts of my life, my Children!!
It is no secret I do not have a background in education or politics and I will never pretend to be either. I do however consider myself a good mother, some may even call me a “mama bear”, which is a name I wear proudly. Our current board lacks that mama bear figure, and I am not by any means saying they do not have our children’s best interest at heart but I don’t see that passion or investment that a mother would have. Our children are being directly impacted by these decisions and I’ll repeat this everyday if I have to, PARENTS DESERVE A SEAT AT THE TABLE AND A SAY IN THEIR CHILDREN’S EDUCATION.

I want to be part of the change that Evangeline Parish deserves. I want to help bring back parent involvement. It’s time we put our children first, above all else, and provide the support that our amazing teachers, support staff and administrators so desperately need in order to provide the best education possible.

Finally got some signs in 🙌 I know I’ve been pretty quiet lately but things are happening!!!!
