Craft Show at the Willow's Mansion 2011 :
Nestled on the back roads of Radnor Township is an estate famous for its beauty, grandeur, and provenance. Standing on the rolling hills of the Willows Estate, just three miles from Villanova University and I-476 (The Blue Route), one might never notice the close proximity of hustle and bustle to this affluent Main Line community home to Physicians, attor
neys and financiers. The mansion has a rich history dating all the way back to the turn of the nineteenth century. Built by a Philadelphian distiller, John Sinnott employed the talents of architect Charles Barton Keene. Commissioned to build the manor, Charles Keene worked closely with Mrs. Sinnott to, design and build a Spanish revival estate complete with terra cotta tile roofing, wrought iron, and Latin court yard. At the height of the Great Depression the Estate came into the hands of Mr. He purchased it as a wedding gift for his daughter, Mary, and her husband Alfred Zantzinger. The mansion entertained celebrity and politicians alike. Today it is owned by Radnor Township and is maintained as a Park and banquet facility. The home is utilized in this capacity for weddings, business dinners, fine art, antique, home furnishing and craft shows. The famous Holiday Gift and Craft Show at the Willows Mansion, as it is fondly known, has become somewhat of a local tradition here in Radnor. The show attracts people from the Tri-County area, as well as, out of state visitors who are looking for a unique holiday craft experience. In addition to being a great craft show, the largest in the Main Line, the 2011 craft extravaganza broadened its range and scope to include, among other things, fine art, home furnishings and accessories, and most importantly crafter demonstrations. Flower arranging and wreath making were a hit at the show this year. Please take some time to peruse our gallery and montage of photos from this year’s show. If you didn’t get a chance, don’t worry, we’ll be back; hope to see you next year! Happy Holidays and Happy New year from all of us here at the Show.
