READING FOR RAYMOND: On May 14, Nancy and Rick Hildreth, along with their son Nick and some football players from Willowbrook High School, made a special delivery to D45. A collection of over 2,000 books, mostly new, was donated as part of the Hildreth family's recent "Reading for Raymond" book drive. Books were collected at Willowbrook's last football game and at Raymond's Celebration of Life. Their son Raymond began his educational journey in District 45's Special Education Early Childhood Program. In the program, Raymond's love for reading began, and the Hildreths are forever thankful for the experience. When Raymond passed, the Hildreths considered many options to honor his memory. When they found an old photo of Raymond reading a book while attending the D45 preschool program, they knew they wanted to do something for the very same District that encouraged Raymond's love of reading. To Rick, Nancy, and the Hildreth Family, thank you for your kind donation and thoughtfulness. May Raymond’s memory live on through future young readers inspired to read from this generous donation!

JAGUARS CELEBRATE CLASS OF 2026: On May 20, eighth graders from Jackson Middle School celebrated their promotion at a ceremony held at Willowbrook High School. Jackson Principal Jill Amrhein said in a message to the 202 students: "As you head into summer, take time to enjoy some well-earned rest, relax with family and friends, and do your teachers a favor by reading a few good books. Keep your minds sharp as you prepare to begin this exciting next chapter. Carry your Jaguar pride with you, and show the world all that you are capable of achieving." Congratulations to our Jaguar graduates and their families!

WILDCATS CELEBRATE CLASS OF 2026: On May 20, 135 eighth graders from Jefferson Middle School marked a milestone with a promotional ceremony at Willowbrook High School. Jefferson Principal Adam Bulfer shared a message with students: "Class of 2026, as you leave Jefferson, here’s my advice to you. Be real. Work hard. Lift people up. Touch the grass once in a while. Don’t spend your entire high school career behind a screen. Get involved and have fun! Give the world the best version of yourself — because eventually, that’s what comes back to you." Congratulations to our Wildcat graduates and their families!

JACKSON-AREA INTERMEDIATE BAND SPRING CONCERT: Jackson-area student musicians took the stage May 6 at Willowbrook High School for their annual spring band concert, featuring the Preparatory Band, Intermediate Band, Concert Band and Symphonic Band. JAGUAR CHOIRS PRESENT SPRING CONCERT: On May 11, Jackson Middle School students presented their spring choir concert at Willowbrook High School. Under the direction of Jennifer Gafron, the Cadet Choir, Maroon & Co., and Concert Choirs performed a variety of choral selections. What a performance! The evening concluded with student awards, recognition, and a combined performance of “Why We Sing.” Thank you to all students for their performances, Accompanist Amy Dickman, Director Jennifer Gafron, the District 45 Music Boosters and everyone who supports our amazing student musicians!

JACKSON AREA ORCHESTRA PRESENTS SPRING CONCERT: On May 4, the Jackson Area Orchestra presented its spring concert with performances by the Preparatory, Intermediate and Concert Orchestras. The concert also featured a special farewell performance of “Let It Go” from “Frozen” by eighth-grade students. Congratulations to all of our student musicians on an exceptional concert season! Thank you to Orchestra Director Allison Vickers for her dedication and leadership, as well as the D45 Music Boosters and families for all their support.
