With a long-held belief in community service and a desire to help Villa Park reach its full potential, I have the experience and commitment to Villa Park to be elected your next Villa Park Pr
esident. If elected, I will focus on:
• Improving Communication with Residents - Upgrade information available on the website; Pursue new ways to provide information to residents; Provide an annual State of Villa Park address - our accountability to the residents
• Disaster Preparedness and Public Safety - Update village emergency response plan; Pursue grants to assist the village and residents after disasters; Utilize CERT volunteers
• Infrastructure Improvements - Continue improving streets, sidewalks and sewer system; Build a pedestrian overpass/underpass on the train tracks
• Economic Development - Attract new businesses to Villa Park; Maximize traffic to existing businesses
• Amenities - Build a new pool; Increase recreation amenities offered; Make Villa Park a bike- and walk-friendly community
As a 37-year Villa Park resident, I have been active in the community for years, including:
• 10 years on the Village Board
• 15 years on the Villa Park Library Board, including serving as Treasurer and 4 years as Library Board President
• Environmental Concerns Commission and Traffic and Safety Commission board liaisons
• Founding member of the Villa Park Bicycle, Pedestrian and Transit Subcommittee
• Villa Park Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) member
• Member of many local organizations, including Villa Park Chamber of Commerce, Villa Park Kiwanis Club, Impact Villa Park, Villa Park Garden Club, DuPage Rail Safety Council and Friends of the Villa Park Library
• An active member, usher and former Religious Education board member at St. Pius X Community Church
My work experience has also prepared me for the Villa Park Presidency.
• Assisted with COVID testing at the DuPage County Fairgrounds and currently working as support staff at the DuPage County Mass Vaccination site.
• Worked for Bridgestone/Firestone for 32 years in various positions, including Facility Project Manager, Equipment Analyst and lease renewals. I received three President’s awards for exceptional performance.
• Also worked at I-Go Car Sharing as a Risk Control Manager and Enterprise Rent-a-Car/ELCO as a claims adjuster
I have a Bachelor’s degree from DePaul University. We have 3 children who all went to Dist. 45 and Dist. 88 schools. My wife was in the PTA, was the “picture mom” and worked in the library. When I’m not volunteering I enjoy biking, gardening, canoeing and hiking. So vote by mail in ballot, vote early or vote on April 6 for Robert “Bob” Wagner for Villa Park President.
