At last night’s Villa Hills City Council meeting, Officer Ciancanelli and Officer Snider were awarded Life Saving Awards for their actions during an incident that occurred on January 22, 2026.

In the late evening hours of January 22, 2026, a traffic stop was made on south I-75 for a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Unbeknownst to Officers Ciancanelli and Snider, the operator of the vehicle was attempting to get to the nearest hospital as a rear passenger, who was 1.5 years old, was in active seizures. EMS was requested, but due to the location of the stop and severity of the situation with the patient losing consciousness and having agonal breathing, Officer Snider took the 1.5 year old into his arms and positioned himself and the patient in the rear of Officer Ciancanelli’s patrol vehicle. Officer Snider secured the child’s airway as Officer Ciancanelli proceeded to the nearest hospital at St. Elizabeth Florence. The hospital was notified ahead of time and were able to quickly start more advanced life saving measures once the officers arrived.

The swift and decisive actions of these officers had a direct impact on the positive outcome of this child and for their family. We are proud of the courageous level of professionalism and dedication that both officers displayed! Well done!
