If the kids in your life love music, the Vienna Town Green is the place to be this week. Kids on the Green returns for the summer season on Tuesday, June 16, at 10 a.m. with storytelling and an interactive journey through Latin America with music from Cantaré.

The spirit of freedom filled Maple Avenue as the second annual Juneteenth Parade kicked off Liberty Amendments Month today!

This year's event was especially meaningful as grand marshals and special guest speakers Willie Pearl Mackey King, who helped transcribe Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "Letter from Birmingham Jail," and Freedom Rider Joan Mulholland, who stood on the front lines of the Civil Rights Movement, led the parade and shared their inspiring stories and wisdom.

Want to earn some brownie points with the kids? Bring them to Vienna250's Colonial Faire & Ice Cream Social tomorrow, Sunday, June 14, and pick up a commemorative Vienna250 coloring book!

Celebrate Juneteenth and the start of Liberty Amendments Month with a parade and festival today, June 13!

The parade begins at 10 a.m. near Mill Street and the Town Green, traveling along Maple Avenue to Nutley Street, and ends with a celebration at First Baptist Church (450 Orchard St. NW). Parade watchers can gather on sidewalks on the southbound side of Maple Avenue and Nutley Street NW.

The celebration goes from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. featuring live entertainment, a fashion show, food trucks, vendors, and tons of activities for kids. To learn more, visit www.viennava.gov/liberty.

***Please note: There will be rolling road closures on the southbound lanes of Maple Avenue (heading toward Oakton) from 10-11 a.m. Northbound lanes will remain open.

If you've got tonight's "Chillin' on Church" block party on your mind, there's still time! The performance by The Mash Up was put on pause until this evening's storm passed, and party goers waited out the storm in Vienna Presbyterian Church. Soon the band will head back the stage, and the block party with plenty of food and beverages will continue until 9:30 p.m. on Church Street. See you there!

Everyone's favorite block party, "Chillin' on Church" is back tonight, Friday, June 12, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Church Street!

Grab your friends and come dance to popular hits performed live by The Mash Up and enjoy lots of food and drink options available for purchase (must show valid ID to purchase alcohol). See you there!
