Meet 910th Airlift Wing Honorary Commander Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini, Hall of Fame boxer and Youngstown native, who was welcomed by Col. Chris Sedlacek, 910th Airlift Wing commander. Mancini is a sports icon in the Mahoning Valley who rose to become World Boxing Association lightweight champion from 1982-1984.

We recently revitalized our honorary wing commander program with the installation of five new honorary commanders, one each for the wing, our three groups and our medical squadron.

Meet 910th Operations Group Honorary Commander Rich Edwards, chairman of the Aviation Committee for the Western Reserve Port Authority, who was welcomed by Col. John Sebesta, commander of the 910th Operations Group. WRPA operates the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport, which shares its runway and air traffic control tower with YARS.

We recently revitalized our honorary wing commander program with the installation of five new honorary commanders, one each for the wing, our three groups and our medical squadron. We’ll be introducing one of them each day this week.

Meet 910th Maintenance Group Honorary Commander Joe DeRamo, campus director for the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics — Youngstown, who was welcomed by Col. Joe Wi******er, commander of the 910th Maintenance Group, fostering a relationship between military aircraft maintainers and a local school that trains the next generation of aviation mechanics.
