On Monday, April 20, 2026, around 12:33 A.M., Vidor Police Department responded to a reported residential structure fire in the 200 block of Filmore Street. Dispatch information indicated that a person was believed to still be inside the residence.

Upon arrival, officers observed the home heavily engulfed in flames. While securing the scene, officers located one adult female at a neighboring residence.

The female reported that her husband remained inside the home along with several family pets. She was able to escape after breaking a window and fleeing to the neighboring residence. Emergency medical personnel from Acadian Ambulance Service provided on-scene treatment for injuries sustained during her escape. She was initially transported to a local hospital and later transferred to a specialized medical facility for further treatment.

Orange County ESD 1 worked for several hours to bring the fire under control. During suppression efforts, firefighters located a deceased adult male inside the residence near the front entryway. The individual’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.

February 10, 2026 - 9:20AM

On February 9, 2026, Vidor Police officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation. During the course of the stop, a Vidor Police K9 was deployed to conduct an open-air sniff. After the K9 gave a positive alert, officers conducted a search of the vehicle, resulting in the seizure of over 500 grams of suspected methamphetamine and a firearm.

This arrest represents our department's ongoing commitment to combating drugs affecting our community. The combination of narcotics and a firearm underscores the dangerous nature of drug trafficking operations. The suspect is currently in custody and facing multiple felony charges.

Chief's Statement: "This arrest demonstrates our officers' dedication to keeping Vidor safe. The removal of over 500 grams of suspected methamphetamine prevents immeasurable harm to our citizens. We will continue to aggressively pursue those who bring drugs and violence into our community. Our K9 unit remains a vital tool in the fight against illegal drugs."
