On Friday, September 5, 2026, Officers with the Vidor Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 100 block of Butler in Vidor, Texas.

The driver, Dwayne Roy, provided consent to search the vehicle at which time K9 Grim was deployed. K9 Grim indicated to the presence of narcotics and a subsequent search was completed.

The driver was taken into custody for Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1/1B and later transported to the Orange County Jail without incident.

While the Vidor Police Department has remained busy responding to the effects of Tropical Storm Eduardo, our officers continue to remain diligent in their responsibilities and committment to protecting the citizens of Vidor.

Despite the challenges created by the storm, including storm-related damage, our officers continue to patrol the streets, respond to calls for service, and take proactive steps to minimize criminal activity.

🔹 On August 31, 2026, Officers with the Vidor Police Department received a call for service near a local business for a female making threats. Upon arrival, officers made contact with Kelsey Schwegman. After a brief investigation, Schwegman was found to be in possession of a controlled substance, PG1, in an amount greater than 4 grams but less than 200 grams. Schwegman was taken into custody and transported to the Orange County Jail without incident.

🔹On September 1, 2026, Officers with the Vidor Police Department, while patrolling observed a vehicle which had been previously reported as stolen. On the same date, officers received an alert of a second stolen vehicle traveling on Interstate 10. Both vehicles were confirmed as stolen and recovered by the Vidor Police Department.

🔹 On September 2, 2026, Officers with the Vidor Police Department were made aware of a subject with an outstanding warrant. Officers located and made contact with Jerry Qualls who had an outstanding Parole Violation Warrant — Original offense (Homicide). Qualls was taken into custody and transported to the Orange County Jail without incident.

The storm may have affected our community, but it has not weakened our commitment to it.

The Vidor Police Department would like to commend the hard work, dedication, and professionalism of our officers and extend our sincere gratitude to all of the first responders and essential personnel who assisted with this recent storm— including our Fire and EMS partners, dispatchers, linemen, street and drainage crews, and the many volunteers, businesses, and community members who stepped up to help their neighbors.

Power outages, heavy rain and storm-related hazards are impacting areas throughout Vidor. Please avoid travel unless absolutely necessary. When it’s safe, first responders and city crews will assess roadway conditions.

🚦 Treat non-working or flashing red traffic signals as four-way stops.

⚠️ Watch for downed power lines, debris and high water. Never approach or drive over a downed line.

🌙 Avoid nighttime travel when possible. Darkness and power outages can make roadway hazards difficult to see.

Please stay safe and keep roadways clear for emergency crews.

Vidor Police Department Honors K9 Service on National Dog Day.

In recognition of National Dog Day, the Vidor Police Department is proud to acknowledge the dedication of our current K9 and honor the lasting legacy of a K9 who previously served the citizens of Vidor.

Our current K9, K9 Grim, continues the proud tradition of service, loyalty, and dedication that has long been associated with the Vidor Police Department’s K9 program. Working alongside his handler, Grim plays an important role in assisting officers and helping keep our community safe.

K9 Grim’s commitment, discipline, and courage are a reflection of the special bond between a police K9 and his handler. These highly trained K9s routinely face challenging situations and perform duties that require tremendous focus, determination, and trust.

Today, we also take a moment to remember and honor K9 Rocky, who previously served with the Vidor Police Department. During his time with the department, Rocky faithfully served alongside his handler and contributed to the safety of our officers and community.

Although K9 Rocky's time of active service has come to an end, the impact of that service remains a part of the Vidor Police Department’s K9 tradition.

The work performed by our K9s is never forgotten, and the dedication they demonstrate leaves a lasting impression on the officers they serve alongside and the community they protect.

National Dog Day provides an opportunity to recognize dogs of all kinds, but for law enforcement, it is also an opportunity to recognize the extraordinary K9s who serve beside our officers every day.

To K9 Grim — thank you for your service, dedication, and loyalty.

To the K9s who served before you — especially K9 Rocky — thank you for laying the foundation and leaving behind a legacy of service.

The Vidor Police Department is proud of its K9 teams, past and present, and remains grateful for the commitment of these remarkable partners.

On Monday, August 25, 2026, officers with the Vidor Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a bicyclist near the 300 block of Highway 90 west after observing the rider commit multiple traffic violations.

During the traffic stop, officers observed the subject attempt to conceal an item believed to be illegal narcotics. Following a brief investigation, the subject was taken into custody and charged with Possession of Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1, in an amount greater than 4 grams but less than 200 grams, a second-degree felony.

The subject, Michael Williamson was later transported to the Orange County Jail.

On Tuesday, August 18, 2026, the Vidor Police Department, with assistance from the Orange County District Attorney's Office, executed an arrest warrant in the 1100 block of Alma Circle on Kenneth Wayne McNeel, 58, for Possession with Intent to Promote Child Po*******hy, a second-degree felony.

McNeel was taken into custody and transported to the Orange County Jail.
