🐾💙 Torres Elementary Student Council Gives Back! 💙🐾

A huge thank you to our Torres Elementary families, students, and staff for supporting our Student Council pet supply drive! Thanks to your generosity, we were able to donate a variety of much-needed items to Victoria County Animal Services.

Our students learned the importance of compassion, community service, and helping those who cannot help themselves. We are so proud of our Student Council members for leading this effort and making a positive impact on the lives of local animals.

Thank you to Victoria County Animal Services for all they do for animals in our community, and thank you to everyone who contributed to making this project a success!

🎉 Tomorrow is our End-of-Year Parade! 🎉

Please remember:
• If you would like your child to wear sunscreen and/or bug spray, it must be applied before coming to school tomorrow.
• Please make sure your child arrives on time, as the parade will begin promptly at 8:15 AM. We don’t want anyone to miss the fun!
• 🎟️ Raffle tickets will be sold prior to the parade beginning. If you missed out on our raffle sale this month, please bring cash to purchase tickets tomorrow morning!

Our Torres Tigers took the stage on Thursday and WOW… what a show! 🌟🎤💃🕺
From singing and dancing to magic, gymnastics, and incredible performances, our students showed so much courage, creativity, and talent. We are so proud of every student who stepped out of their comfort zone and shared their gifts with others.

These students earned this fun trip by having perfect attendance from April 7 through May 7! We are so proud of their dedication, hard work, and commitment to being at school every day. 👏💙

Dear Torres Families,
After 17 incredible years at Torres Elementary, I want to share some important news with you. I have been given the honor of serving Victoria ISD as the new Senior Director of Academic Services beginning next school year. While I am excited for this new opportunity, saying goodbye to Torres as your principal is truly bittersweet.
Torres has been so much more than a school to me—it has been home. Over the past 17 years, I have had the privilege of serving this campus as a 3rd grade teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, and for the past 3 years, your proud principal. This campus, our students, and your families have helped shape me into the educator and leader I am today.
It has been one of the greatest honors of my life to serve as your principal. Thank you for trusting me, supporting me, and allowing me to be a part of your children’s educational journey. Torres will always hold a special place in my heart.
While I will deeply miss being part of the daily life of this amazing campus, please know I will continue to do everything I can to support Torres and ensure the tradition of excellence continues. I believe wholeheartedly in this school, its staff, its students, and this community.

🐾 Our amazing 2nd graders led their Animal Presentations in the cafeteria for students and teachers, and they did an incredible job! From researching their animals to creating detailed habitats, our students truly brought their learning to life. 🦁🐢🦜
They were so excited to share all they learned and proudly presented their projects with confidence and enthusiasm. We loved seeing their creativity, hard work, and love for learning shine through! 🌎✨
A huge THANK YOU to our parents for supporting your 2nd graders with this project. Your help and encouragement made such a difference, and the students were SO proud to show off their work! 💛🐾

What a day for our Torres Tigers Student Council! 🐯💙

Today our students had the incredible opportunity to step outside the classroom and into the real world of leadership, citizenship, and the judicial system. Experiences like these are exactly why Student Council matters — students are learning how communities work, how leaders serve others, and how their voices can make a difference.

A HUGE thank you to Jeff Wright with Victoria Preservation Inc for sharing local history and helping make this experience meaningful for our students.

Thank you to Judge Ben Zeller for taking time out of his busy schedule to meet with our students and teach them about leadership and public service.

We are also so grateful to Crossroad Defenders Office for the wonderful tour and for allowing our students to meet several attorneys and learn firsthand about the judicial system. One of the lawyers even shared that he served on Student Council when he was in school — such a powerful reminder that leadership starts young!

And a special thank you to Mr.Gattis for hosting our lunch and play time. Our students had an absolute blast!

Most importantly, our Torres Tigers represented beautifully today. They showed up and showed OFF all of our VISD values by being respectful, responsible, engaged, and truly citizen ready. We could not be more proud of the way they carried themselves throughout the entire trip.

Huge shoutout to Ms. Reyes, Mrs. Henery, Mrs. Guerra, and Mr. Garcia for pouring into these students all year long and sponsoring Student Council. 💙💛

This is one of our biggest PTO fundraisers of the year, and every ticket sold helps support our students, staff, and school! 💙🐯

📣 If you know your family is not planning to sell your book of raffle tickets, please return them to the school ASAP so we can get them into the hands of families ready to help us sell more!
