Join us for the City of Victoria’s 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony.

On Friday, September 11, we will be gathering with the Victoria Police Department at the Public Safety Headquarters for a remembrance ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.

The ceremony will honor the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives that day and remember the police officers, firefighters, paramedics and other first responders who responded in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

The ceremony will begin at 7:40 a.m. and will include a joint VPD/VFD Honor Guard, moments of silence, remarks from community and public safety leaders, an invocation and benediction, and a bugle call.

Can't attend in person? The ceremony will be livestreamed on the City of Victoria, Texas - Government page beginning at 7:40 a.m.

Keep Victoria Beautiful is launching a new scholarship program, awarding up to five $1,000 scholarships to students who are making a difference through community beautification, environmental stewardship and civic involvement. Read more: https://www.victoriatx.gov/m/newsflash/home/detail/2277
To qualify, students must:
🌿Participate in at least two KVB cleanups or events in the past 12 months
🎥Submit a video proposal for a community project focused on litter prevention, beautification, recycling or waste diversion.
Applications are open Dec. 1, 2026 – March 19, 2027.

At Tuesday's City Council meeting, Mayor Duane Crocker proclaimed the City's participation in the Mayor's Monarch Pledge, an initiative of the National Wildlife Federation that invites communities to commit to the care and protection of monarch butterflies and other pollinators. 🦋🦋🦋
The mayor was joined by Victoria Parks and Recreation Assistant Director Kate Garcia, who said, "We’re excited to partner with Community Appearance and Keep Victoria Beautiful to create and preserve pollinator-friendly spaces and increase awareness throughout our community." 🌻🌹🌷

The ceremony will include remarks from Mayor Duane Crocker; City Manager Jesús A. Garza; and Kristin Moses, Gary Moses’ niece, as well as representatives of the various contractors that will bring the project to life.
