Seeing orange around town? Construction cones mean it is more important than ever to show up for our local businesses.

Victoria in Bloom is your perfect reason to head downtown on May 16 and support the shops, restaurants, and small businesses that keep our community blooming. Spend the day exploring downtown, picking up something new, grabbing a bite to eat, and connecting with the people who make Victoria special.

While construction is part of growing for the future, our local businesses are open and counting on your support all season long. Every visit makes a difference!

As a friendly reminder, all pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their animals.

City ordinance requires that pet owners immediately remove and properly dispose of waste on any property not owned or exclusively occupied by them, including parks, trails, and other public spaces. This also applies to your own property, where waste must be regularly cleaned up to prevent it from becoming a nuisance.

Cleaning up after your pet is a simple step that makes a big difference. It helps keep our parks safe, clean, and welcoming for everyone who uses them.

Thank you for doing your part to care for our community spaces!

Emerald ash borer is becoming a growing issue in communities across Minnesota, and ash trees in our area are at risk.

If you have an ash tree on your property, now is a good time to consider treatment. Acting early can help protect healthy trees and extend their lifespan.

The City of Victoria has partnered with Rainbow Treecare to offer discounted treatment options, with experts who can assess whether your tree is a good candidate. Taking action now helps preserve the trees that make our community a true City of Lakes and Parks.

Looking for a way to get more involved in shaping Victoria’s future? The City of Victoria is now accepting applications for an alternate seat on the Victoria Planning Commission.

The Planning Commission plays an important role in guiding how our community grows and develops. Members review site plans, subdivisions, zoning requests, and other land use topics, then provide recommendations to the City Council. It is a great opportunity to learn more about how decisions are made and to help ensure development aligns with Victoria’s long-term vision.

Alternates attend meetings regularly and step in to vote when a regular member is absent. If a full seat becomes available, alternates may also have the opportunity to move into that role. This is a flexible way to get started in local government while still making a meaningful impact.

Meetings are typically held on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall. While alternates only vote when needed, they are expected to attend meetings, stay engaged in discussions, and review materials in advance.

Applications will be accepted through 4:30 p.m. on April 30, 2026. The City Council will interview candidates during a workshop on Monday, May 11, 2026.

If you have ever been curious about how development decisions are made or are looking for a way to serve your community, this is a great place to start.
