NETHERLANDS TOUR
Thrilled to have three gentlemen from the Netherlands as my guest for my three-hour expanded Vicksburg Battlefield tour.

Vicksburg has been named the Best Small Historic City in the U.S. and 1 of 25 attractions not to miss in 2025.

Let our Licensed Battlefield Guides help you understand why Gen. George Meade said Vicksburg was first in impact on the War.

CHAMPION HILL ANCESTRAL TOUR

Honored to interpret events before, during, and following the Battle of Champion Hill onsite for Ms. Jo Ann Stone, whose ancestor. Corp. Marshall England fought with the 49th Indiana.

Jo Ann was able to walk where England fought, was wounded, and was captured at the feverishly contested Crossroads and Middle Road where the 49th resorted to fighting with the butts of their rifles. Champion Hill was the most decisive battle of Grant's Vicksburg Campaign.

England's unit had previously seen similarly horrid action at Chickasaw Bayou and Port Gibson before he was captured.

England ran away from home to find a place where no one knew he was 16 so he could join the Army. A farmer after the war, he walked with a limp due to his war wound. He did not care to discuss the war.

FOLLOWING IRISH ANCESTORS AT VICKSBURG

The Berigan brothers, Pat, Michael, Jamie, and Brian, followed their ancestor Sgt. Nicholas Berigan, 17th Wisconsin, at the assaults and Siege of Vicksburg. I was able to put them in their ancestor's footsteps and describe the events and camp life from his perspective.

VICKSBURG IN IRELAND: In April 2022, the village of Clogherhead honored a native Civil War soldier who participated in the war and the Vicksburg Campaign, Jennie Hodgers, who fought as Albert D.J. Cashier of the 95th Illinois until the war's end.

When she was found out to be a woman decades later, the U.S. took her pension away, but her veteran friends petitioned and got it restored. Jennie was buried to full military honors in the U.S.
