Vicksburg-Warren County Chamber of Commerce Working everyday to improve life in our community through networking, programming, and training.

Today’s education initiative, the Leader in Me, has won the 2014 Mississippi Governor’s Award and the 2014 Franklin Covey Lighthouse Award for its success in the Bowmar and Bovina Elementary Schools of the Vicksburg Warren School District. Recently the partnership of the Chamber of Commerce and the Vicksburg Warren School District was nationally recognized by receiving the Crystal Star Award from the National Drop Out Prevention Network. Following the first organization of the Vicksburg community committed to commerce and trade in the 1800’s, namely The Board of Trade of the City of Vicksburg, today’s Vicksburg-Warren County Chamber of Commerce, a founding member of the US National Chamber of Commerce in 1912, is active in serving the business community of Vicksburg and Warren County. This is reflected in the unselfish spirit of its members in the Chamber’s Program of Work which, over the years, initiated the following viable free-standing programs and agencies: The United Way of West Central Mississippi, Warren County Economic Development Foundation, Vicksburg Main Street Program, Vicksburg Arts & Crafts Show, Keep Vicksburg Warren Beautiful, Riverfest, Vicksburg Convention and Visitors Bureau, Vicksburg/Tallulah Regional Airport and the Vicksburg Convention Center.

🚀 Leadership Vicksburg is officially underway!

Our first Leadership Vicksburg session focused on City Leadership & Economic Development—and our class jumped right in!

We started with Habit 1: Be Proactive with Dr. Regina O’Leary of Vicksburg-Warren School District. From there, we reviewed project management skills and put that knowledge to work as each team completed its Project Charter for their community project.

Then came a little friendly competition! 🍝 Teams tackled the Spaghetti & Marshmallow Challenge, building the tallest structure they could. Beyond the laughs, the activity highlighted important leadership lessons about teamwork, communication, creativity, adaptability and learning from failure. We then heard from leaders helping shape Vicksburg’s future: Pablo Diaz, Warren County Economic Developer; Dr. Jeff Holland, Executive Director of MCITy; Mayor Willis Thompson; Fire Chief Martin; and Police Chief Burns. Each shared insight into where our community is heading, projects on the horizon and the opportunities ahead.

And last but not least, a big thank you to Brick Street Market & Deli for tasty turkey and cheddar sandwiches with your special pickles!

The Warren County and City of Vicksburg leaders invite you to join us for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Golding River Overlook, the City’s newest public recreational facility.

The Golding River Overlook is designed to be a place where the community can play, relax, gather and enjoy the beauty of the Mississippi River. The new facility features swings, children’s play equipment, public restrooms and a stage and amphitheatre designed to accommodate live music, plays, community performances and other events.

Whether you're bringing the kids to play, enjoying an afternoon outdoors, or gathering with friends and neighbors for a performance, the Golding River Overlook offers a new space for residents and visitors to experience Vicksburg in a whole new way.
