Binghamton University athletes made a meaningful visit to Vestal Hills Elementary during the school's Mental Health Awareness Week. They welcomed members of the men’s basketball team, women’s basketball team, (along with their coach, Coach Grimes), and also members of the women’s softball team. The athletes taught the students ways to get their bodies and minds ready for challenges, demonstrating stretches they do before games, and multiple breathing techniques and visualization strategies. The best part was that all teams, independent of each other, had the same message to prepare for challenges - believe in yourself, positive self-talk, “you can do it!” and to encourage and lift up your teammates.

We thank the athletes for stopping by. It was such a great day!

This morning was VHE's Pick a Reading Partner (PARP) kickoff. This month students are encouraged to Read Across America and the World. Every square they fill in showing a book read equals one mile. Today's assembly was extra fun because VHE staff members participated in a book trivia game. A big Golden Bear congratulations to the winning team, the PE team!

Benefits of Cardio Drumming include:
Improves cardiovascular endurance
Builds coordination and rhythm
Strengthens muscles and core
Boosts focus and brain power
Reduces stress and increases confidence
Encourages teamwork and self-expression
FUN, inclusive, and engaging for all fitness levels

This is Vestal Hills' first year doing this unit and students and teachers love it!

Vestal Hills Golden Bears took advantage of the snowy hill during recess yesterday. While the students went downhill in their snowpants, SRO Tuetken joined in on the fun by using a crafty box as a makeshift sled.
