This Memorial Day, we remember those who left their families, homes, and futures behind so others could live in freedom.

The call to serve is something greater than ourselves. We stand humbled and grateful for those men and women who gave everything in service to others.

May we never take their sacrifice for granted, and may we always honor their memory by living with gratitude and never forgetting the heroes who gave all for this nation.

This week, Versailles Fire Special Operations practiced specialized anchor systems and rope rescue techniques. Your Special Ops Firefighters meet monthly to practice advanced skills for the "out of the ordinary" calls.

We were joined this month by the Fire Science Program students who learned along with us. They even participated as victims. Special thanks to Woodford County Public Schools for allowing us to use the gym and stay out of the rain!

The Versailles Fire Department is excited to kick off our 2026 WHAS Crusade for Children Fundraiser!
Each year, our department proudly supports the Crusade for Children, where 100% of your donation will help make life better for children with identified health care, educational and emotional wellness needs.
Over the coming months, we will be raising money and spreading awareness. To start this off, we have added our QR code. If you are able and would like to support this wonderful cause, just scan and donate. Feel free to share this post and help us in spreading the word!

Big thanks to the Versailles Police Department, Woodford County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police, and all of their state & federal law enforcement partners for what they do every day to keep this community safe. We’re proud to serve alongside men and women who are always willing to answer the call and protect this place we all call home. Their work isn’t easy and it definitely doesn’t get recognized enough. We also want to recognize the ones who wore the badge before them the men and women who helped build these departments and set the standard for service and sacrifice. And especially those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Their legacy and dedication will never be forgotten. From your brothers and sisters at the VFD we appreciate you, we support you, and we’re thankful to stand beside you. Stay safe out there.
