Happy Birthday to our Commonwealth of Kentucky!

Kentucky was admitted to statehood on June 1, 1792. Kentucky gained our own star and stripe on the flag approved by Congress in the Flag Act of 1794, representing Vermont and Kentucky's entrance into the Union.

The flag became known as the Star-Spangled Banner Flag because it was the garrison flag that flew over Fort McHenry during the Battle of Baltimore in the War of 1812. Seeing the flag flying over Fort McHenry on the morning of September 14, 1814, after the battle ended, Francis Scott Key was inspired to write the song that became our national anthem.

Here's to many more years, Kentucky! 234 looks good on you.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026!

Today marks a monumental milestone, and our entire community could not be prouder of you.

The Class of 2026 is a special group of graduates marked by exceptional resilience, going through middle school during the pandemic in a time of unprecedented disruption, remote screens, and missed normalcy.

Instead of letting those challenges define you, you allowed them to refine you. You adapted, you persisted, and you learned early on what it truly means to overcome. That grit is a badge of honor you will carry with you and your class forever. One of the last classes to know the nostalgia of the old WCHS and to experience the new high school. You are a Class who have lived our community's milestone memories.

As you flip your tassels and step out into the world, we are here for you. Woodford County stands behind you. Our community helped raise you, we have watched you grow, and we will always be your biggest supporters. Whether you are heading off to college, stepping into a trade, joining the workforce, or entering military service, our support follows you wherever your path leads.

Take that same resilience that brought you to this stage and use it to build a future you believe in. We believe in you. Don't be discouraged by disruption or difficult days ahead. You've already proven you can handle it. Stay kind and remember that no matter how far you travel, Woodford County will always be your home.

Congratulations, Class of 2026! Go forth and do big things!

Your Judge,

James Kay

Our community came together across the County on this Memorial Day to honor the brave men and women who gave thier lives for our country.

It was a great morning at the Midway Cemetery for a solemn and meaningful service. Then Woodford Post 67, American Legion hosted a powerful tribute, where Captain Logan Forrest delivered a truly remarkable speech that touched us all.

After a great lunch at the Legion, we concluded our day at the Huntertown Cemetery to pay our final respects and honor the fallen heroes resting there.

Thank you to everyone who organized these events, attended, and took time out of their day to reflect. It is a true privilege to serve a community who are so dedicated to honoring our fallen heroes.
