During this morning's Kentucky Office of Highway Safety ceremony, Sergeant Ben Hartley received the 2026 Governor's Occupant Protection Enforcement Award. The award recognized Sgt. Hartley's extraordinary dedication to keeping our roadways safe by ensuring motorists are wearing their seat belts and children are properly secured in approved car seats.

The data is clear - Kentucky receives poor ratings when it comes to seat belt use. Each year hundreds of people are killed on our roadways as a result of being involved in collisions while not wearing a seat belt.

Please remember to wear your seat belt and have your children properly secured. It really is a matter of life or death.

A follow up to our recent post about BJ's Wholesale Club "Club for a Cause" program. Our community has raised $515 for Cops for Kids with 69 new memberships. We wanted to say THANK YOU!

If you missed our first post, BJ's Club for a Cause is a way to obtain a BJ's Wholesale Club membership at a reduced cost with a portion of the membership fee being donated to the Cops for Kids Program.

Versailles Rd/Lexington Rd is now fully open.

Update 11:58
Lexington Metro has opened their roadway and we are no longer directing traffic for them.
However, within Woodford County on Lexington Rd at Glen Haven, a tree has fallen on power lines and we are rerouting traffic around that currently. Roadway should be back open shortly. KU is on scene at this time working on the issue.

Versailles Police Department is assisting Lexington Metro on Versailles Rd. Our units will be diverting Versailles Rd inbound to Lexington traffic to Shannon Run Rd or Pisgah Pike for an undetermined amount of time.

Update 3:15am.
Roadway now open.

Due to an accident in Anderson County on BG PKWY WB around the 60MM, traffic is being diverted to KY33 in Woodford County, and will remain closed until the accident scene is opened back up. No traffic will be permitted to continue WB Estimated time frame is 2-3hrs. We will try to keep you up to date, but would avoid area if at all possible.

**Law Enforcement Training**

If you notice a large presence of Police at WCHS this week, there is no need to be alarmed.

The Versailles Police will be conducting training at the Woodford County High School on July 13th, 14th and 15th.
