As Correctional Officer’s week comes to an end, we would like to extend our sincere appreciation for the support and recognition from our Community.

“National Correctional Officers & Employees Week” was established by President Reagan in 1984, to honor the, often unseen, dedication of correctional professionals who maintain public safety in jails and prisons. These men and women take an oath to protect and serve, and they work hard to show that every single day!

Special thanks to the following businesses for their generous donations:

-Mind & Body MedSpa
-My Smile Versailles
-Cornerstone Pharmacy
-Oak & Moore
-BelAir Florist
-Chamber of Commerce
-Cindy Shryock, realtor
-Shop Around the Corner

We’re grateful to welcome back our Catholic service from St. Leo church, who also provides options for services in Spanish.

Providing multiple faith services, including options for Spanish-speaking individuals, is an important part of supporting a diverse population. We’re equally grateful for all of our faith-based programs and the volunteers who consistently serve our facility. Thank you for all you do!

It’s always an honor to be invited to attend career day!

Today, students had the opportunity to step into the role of correctional staff and participate in mock jail operation exercises. Under supervision, they were able practice different scenarios and operating procedures.

These training scenarios emphasized discipline, accountability, and maintaining control in a structured environment. Participants were taught to give clear commands, enforce rules, and ensure order at all times, just as our officers do on a daily basis.

Hands-on experiences like this help build an understanding, accountability, and the importance of maintaining safety and order within a controlled environment.

RECOVERY IS POSSIBLE- and yesterday, for “Testimony Thursday” our facility got to witness this, yet again!

We had the honor of welcoming a former inmate back to share her powerful story of overcoming addiction, rebuilding her life, and finding purpose after incarceration. Her message to those currently in custody was simple but impactful: your past does not define your future.

As Jailer, I believe our responsibility goes beyond custody. It includes creating opportunities for change, accountability, but also encouragement. By bringing real-life success stories into our facility, we’re helping break cycles and showing inmates that a different path is truly achievable.

Hearing Brittany say, “To have people inside of a jail who believed in me instead of looking down on me, changed my life” is what makes this more than just a job- but a life calling.

This is another reminder on why Public safety begins with rehabilitation. When individuals leave our facility better than they came in, our entire community benefits.

Here at WCDC, we are SO PROUD OF YOU BRITTANY!

Thank you to the Versailles Police Department for their continued partnership and quick response in placing additional charges on an inmate.

Due to the diligence and great work by our staff, methamphetamine was located inside the jail. The inmate has received additional charges and will be arraigned.

While established search procedures are consistently followed, the potential for contraband to enter a facility cannot be entirely eliminated. This remains a continuous struggle for jails across the state, but we are committed to addressing it head-on.

Let this serve as a reminder—if you choose to bring contraband into the jail, you will be charged.

Our WCDC staff does an outstanding job every day, often under challenging conditions. We are proud of their professionalism, vigilance, and dedication.

Thank you to our team for your hard work and commitment to keeping our facility safe.

We’re excited to be getting the garden ready at the Woodford County Detention Center once again!

This is something we look forward to every year being able to provide fresh vegetables for our inmates while also saving taxpayer dollars. It’s a win-win that supports both health and good stewardship of our resources.

A big thank you to Jeremy Dotson for working the ground and helping us get everything started. We appreciate your time and willingness to give back to our community!

🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨

The Woodford County Detention Center will NEVER call and ask anyone to post a bond online or pay for an ankle monitor through Venmo, CashApp, PayPal, or any other online payment service.

We have received reports that families are being contacted shortly after someone is booked into the jail and are being told to send money through these apps. This is a scam.

All bonds and ankle monitor payments at the Woodford County Detention Center are CASH ONLY.

Unfortunately, this scam is happening across the state. We reported it to the FBI several months ago.

If you or someone you know has been scammed, please report it at:

Last night we hosted our very first “Testimony Thursday” at WCDC. We had two incredible individuals share their powerful journeys through addiction - one who experienced incarceration, and another a mother who lost her son to addiction.

Their stories were raw, honest, and deeply moving. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room.

If you feel called to share your testimony at WCDC, we would love to hear from you as we continue to bring hope, healing, and encouragement to others.

Pictured below, are three of our Community Service Program trustees. These inmates worked tirelessly during the recent snow storm to assist with keeping our County safe and operational during such challenging conditions.

We would like to thank Judge Executive James Kay and the Woodford County Fiscal Court for recognizing the hard work and dedication from this work crew!

Opportunities like this, not only support our community, but also allow individuals in our custody to give back in meaningful ways. We are proud of the effort they put forward and grateful for the partnership and support from our County and City Employees.

Moments like these remind us that service, teamwork, and second chances matter. We’re so proud of the work that was done and thankful to be part of a county that values dedication and community support. ❤️
