Verona came together this morning to remember the lives we lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the courage and sacrifice of those who responded in the face of tragedy. The 2,799 flags displayed across Verona’s Civic Center lawn serve as a reminder that behind every number was a person, a family, and a community forever changed.

We thank to Verona’s police, fire, and rescue personnel for their service; Rev. Anthony Giordano for leading us in prayer; the 8th-grade classes from HBW and Our Lady of the Lake for participating; and the VHS Chamber Choir for their moving performances.

You may watch Verona’s 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony, led by Mayor Christopher Tamburro, on the Township of Verona’s YouTube channel.

A Verona tradition continues. 👏Everett Field is for everyone! Starting this Saturday, September 12th from 9am -3pm, Everett Field will have Open Play on the field⚾ Here’s what’s available:

🏃 Open Play: The field is available to the public during designated Open Play times. Check the Recreation Calendar at VeronaNJ.org/Recreation for current times.

⚾ Batting cages: Residents can use the batting cages whenever scheduled games and practices are not in session.

😊 ADA-accessible playground: Open to the public at all times.

We’re currently trialing the Open Play schedule and will evaluate how the field is being used after October as we work toward establishing a more formalized schedule.

🤗Composting is coming to Verona... and it’s FREE for residents. Through a Sustainable Jersey grant, Verona Township and Sustainable Verona with the help from JAVA'S COMPOST are launching a free compost pilot program to help residents reduce food waste and keep valuable organic material out of the landfill. 🌎

🍎 Collect food scraps at home
🥕 Bring them to designated Verona drop-off locations (coming soon)
♻️ Reduce the amount of waste sent to the landfill
🌱 Help create a more sustainable community
