Many members of the Verona Democratic committee attended the Essex County Democratic committee re-organization meeting last night in Newark. We congratulate chairman LeRoy Jones on his reelection as Chair, and the entire leadership team. We are very excited that Akeem Cunningham was named the Executive Director of the Essex County, Democratic Party, and that a new Progressive Caucus was announced.

A few weeks ago, The Verona Democratic Committee proudly recognized Lily Petruzzi as this year's Verona High School senior scholarship recipient. Lily's submission demonstrated insight, curiosity, and a strong commitment to civic engagement.

The Verona Democratic Committee Scholarship has been awarded for nearly a decade, and one of the most rewarding aspects of the program has been watching recipients continue their educational journeys and succeed in their chosen fields. We are honored to support students like Lily as they pursue higher education and prepare to make meaningful contributions to their communities and beyond.

Early vote has begun at the Verona Community Center! In the past few elections - Verona Democrats have loved voting early. Let’s break records again - and support all endorsed candidates including our very own - by using Early Vote for this June 2nd Primary. Early Vote is open from 10 am to 8 pm everyday through Sat. On Sunday, the last day of early vote, the hours are 10 am to 6 pm. Spread the word!

🎓 Verona High School Seniors — Apply for the Verona Democrats Scholarship! 🎓

The Verona Democrats are proud to support the next generation of leaders in our community by offering a $500 scholarship to a graduating Verona High School senior.

If you care about your community and have ideas about making a difference, we want to hear from you!

🗓 Applications are due May 1
📍 Apply through Naviance
✍️ Simply answer ONE of two short questions, including topics like:
• What issue would you advocate for if you could meet with leaders such as the President, the NJ Governor, the Verona Town Council, or the Verona Board of Education?
• How can engagement and voting among young adults be increased?

This is a great opportunity to share your ideas and be recognized for your perspective on civic engagement and community leadership.
