During EMS Week, members of the Verona Rescue Squad had the opportunity to visit all of Verona’s elementary schools for the second year in a row.

Throughout the week, we met with hundreds of students, showed them our ambulances and equipment, talked about what we do, and answered some great questions. These visits give students a chance to learn about emergency services and become familiar with the people who help keep our community safe.

A special thank you to the administrators, teachers, and staff at each school for welcoming us into your classrooms and making these visits possible. We always enjoy spending time with Verona’s students and look forward to continuing this tradition for years to come.

Today we recognize and congratulate Officer Joel Martin on his retirement after 25 years of dedicated service with the Verona Police Department.

Throughout his career, Joel has demonstrated professionalism, commitment, and compassion while serving the residents of Verona. His dedication to public safety and the community has made a lasting impact on countless people over the years. Joel is also a longtime member of VRS to this day.

From all of us at the Verona Rescue Squad, we thank Joel for his years of service, partnership, and commitment to keeping our community safe. We wish him a healthy, happy, and well-deserved retirement.

🚑 NEW AMBULANCE 🚑

Yesterday, the Verona Rescue Squad took delivery of our new Ambulance Rescue 9. Replacing our 2003 Ford E450 is a 2026 Ford E450 chassis with a Horton 553B.

Maintaining our fleet reaffirms our mission in providing the highest quality of care to our residents. As our ambulances wear and tear through years of calls for service, endless hours of emergency driving and idling, eventually, the cost benefit ratio in maintaining vehicles that will subsequently require more serious repairs and maintenance becomes impractical, consequently making us place an ambulance out of service for an extended time for repairs. This new ambulance allows us to operate at full capacity to provide professional service to our residents.

We would like to thank VCI Emergency Vehicle Specialists for their dedication in completing this project. We would also like to thank Mayor Dr. Christopher H. Tamburro and the Township Council & Township Manager Kevin O’Sullivan for supporting our agency needs and providing us the best equipment to serve the Township of Verona.

This National EMS Week, the Verona Rescue Squad proudly recognizes and thanks the dedicated EMS professionals and volunteers who answer the call day and night to serve our community. 🚑❤️

Since 1927, our members have remained committed to providing compassionate care, rapid response, and lifesaving service to the residents and visitors of Verona.

EMS Week is a time to honor the sacrifices, dedication, and teamwork of emergency medical providers everywhere — especially the volunteers who selflessly give their time to protect our community.

For nearly 100 years, the Verona Rescue Squad has answered the call — day or night, in every emergency, for every resident in our community.

As we approach our Centennial Anniversary in 2027, we are asking our residents, local businesses, and community partners to help us continue this proud tradition of volunteer service.

The Verona Rescue Squad is 100% volunteer-run. Our EMTs and volunteers dedicate countless hours to training, emergency response, and community support — not for a paycheck, but because they care deeply about Verona.

Today, members of the Verona Rescue Squad proudly departed to provide support for the Police Unity Tour. 🚑💙

We are especially proud of our own Luke Lichardi and Jaiden Safris, who are representing our squad and helping ensure the safety and well-being of all those participating in this incredible journey. Before heading out, the team gathered for this photo as they prepared for the road ahead.

The Police Unity Tour is an annual bicycle ride that honors law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty and raises awareness and support for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and Museum. Riders and support teams travel hundreds of miles together with one mission: “We Ride for Those Who Died.” The event also helps provide support to the families of fallen officers and keeps their memories alive through unity, remembrance, and service.

We wish Luke, Jaiden, and everyone involved a safe and meaningful ride. Thank you for representing Verona with pride and dedication. 🇺🇸🚴‍♂️
