Statement:

At its April 28, 2026 Council Meeting the Verona City Council reviewed the feasibility of a citywide clean up event. After careful consideration it was determined that the use of roll-off dumpsters would require continuous monitoring or secure placement behind a locked gate when unattended. Access would be limited to city residents, and restrictions on certain materials would apply. The only viable location for securing the dumpsters – the sewer plant property – would require residents to travel through active construction areas and near equipment storage, raising safety and accessibility concerns. The Council also noted that residents currently have access to disposal options, including free appliance pickup through Doty’s with scheduled service, as well as other local removal services at some minimal cost. In light of these logistical and safety challenges, the Council voted unanimously to table the item at this time. The City appreciates residents’ interest in community cleanup efforts and remains committed to identifying safe and effective solutions in the future
