🚨 Verona Police Department – Clement Street Shooting Update 🚨

Statement from Chief Nunn

On March 25, 2026, at approximately 1:00 a.m., officers with the Verona Police Department responded to 115A Clement Street in reference to a domestic disturbance involving reports of gunfire.

Upon arrival, officers located two individuals who had sustained gunshot wounds. Preliminary investigation indicates that a 32-year-old female suffered two gunshot wounds, and a 28-year-old male sustained two self-inflicted gunshot wounds. Both individuals were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Lee County Coroner.

At this time, the incident appears to be isolated, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

This case remains under active investigation.

🚨 Tall Oaks Shooting Update 🚨

From Chief Nunn

On March 24, 2026, at approximately 2:20 p.m., officers responded to the 1600 block of Tall Oaks off Mattox Road regarding a disturbance involving shots fired.

Upon arrival, several individuals fled on foot. Officers detained two individuals nearby, and through the course of the investigation, a 17-year-old juvenile was identified as the suspected shooter and was later taken into custody.

A 39-year-old male sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot injury to the leg and was transported to North Mississippi Medical Center for medical treatment. He has since then been released.

Additional individuals were questioned, with two juveniles being released to guardians and one adult released without charges at this time.

Multiple agencies assisted in the search of the area. I would like to thank the Tupelo K-9 Unit, Lee County Sheriff’s Department, Shannon Police Department, Nettleton Police Department, ABC Agents, and U.S. Park Rangers for their rapid response.

📞 This case remains under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Verona Police Department at (662) 566-2215.
